We are currently seeking a driven and collaborative Senior Data Governance Analyst to join our forward-thinking information systems team in our downtown Toronto office.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
As a Senior Data Governance Analyst on our Data & Analytics Team, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring that data is accurate, consistent, and trusted across the business. This role goes beyond compliance, you will help shape how our data is governed, making it easier to share, analyze, and leverage across the organization. You’ll collaborate with business and technical partners to design governance practices that directly impact decision-making, support advanced analytics, and prepare us for innovative uses of data in the insurance industry.
Working alongside skilled colleagues in engineering, finance, actuarial, and operations, you’ll ensure that our data is high-quality and AI-ready, helping unlock new insights and improve business performance. CORE SKILLS:
- Strong SQL coding skills with the ability to write clear, efficient, and well-documented code.
- Proven experience in data governance and data quality management.
- Strong communication skills to bridge technical concepts with business needs.
- Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Curiosity, attention to detail, and passion for data-driven decision-making.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of overall professional experience, including at least 2 years in data governance, or data management role.
- Strong SQL development experience (T-SQL preferred).
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Familiarity with AI governance principles and ethical AI practices an asset.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) are considered assets.
- Prior work experience in insurance, financial services, or other regulated industries is an advantage.
