This role is a senior data governance program lead who can act as a proxy for the enterprise data governance sponsor to operationalize a new enterprise data governance program. You will drive onboarding across departments, secure VP sign-offs on critical data objects and metrics, and track progress, dependencies, and risks across four departments. The role requires strong program management, executive presence, and prior experience running similar governance programs in an enterprise SaaS context. What You'll Do Act as the program sponsor proxy to drive execution, decision-making, and follow-through across four departments. Operationalize the enterprise data governance operating model, including forums, cadences, roles (data owners, data stewards), and decision workflows. Lead onboarding across departments, ensuring teams adopt governance processes, templates, and standards consistently. Drive alignment and VP sign-offs on critical data objects, metrics, and definitions, including ownership, accountability, and change control. Build and maintain program-level plans, milestones, and dashboards that track adoption, progress, issues, risks, and executive decisions. Run cross-functional working sessions and executive readouts. Reduce surprises by proactively managing risks and escalations. Establish program goals, success metrics, and reporting mechanisms to measure adoption, data quality, consistency of definitions, and business impact. Partner with Product Owners and engineering teams to prioritize and deliver enabling capabilities (for example, metadata management, data catalog adoption, approval workflows, data quality monitoring). Align intake, triage, SLA tracking, and post-launch measurement to organizational standards. Manage competing priorities and simultaneous workstreams in a fast-paced environment, switching from program-level strategy to task-level execution as needed. Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through automation of governance workflows and reporting. Mentor junior consultants in delivery best practices and structured program execution. Qualifications Required 7+ years of professional experience in program, project, or product management within technology (or financial services), including 3 to 5 years in a technical program management or equivalent delivery capacity. Demonstrated experience leading enterprise data governance or data management programs (for example, critical data elements, metric governance, data ownership, stewardship models, data catalog rollout, data quality governance). Strong executive presence with a track record of driving alignment and decisions with VP-level stakeholders. Experience delivering complex, cross-functional programs spanning product, engineering, analytics, and business stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations and crisp status reporting. Strong risk, dependency, and issue management. Operates with urgency, accountability, and sound judgment in matrixed organizations. 5+ years working in Agile environments, with the ability to adapt governance delivery to iterative product and platform roadmaps. Technical and data acumen. Comfortable collaborating with data platform, analytics engineering, and product teams. Based in San Francisco, New York, or Seattle, and eligible to work in the United States. Recommended Experience in an enterprise SaaS environment running governance programs at scale. Certifications such as PMP, SAFe, Scrum Master, or CDMP (or equivalent). Familiarity with governance, delivery, and reporting tools such as ServiceNow PPM, Jira, Smartsheet, MS Project, Azure DevOps, and Google Workspace. Experience with data governance and metadata tools (for example, Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Atlan) and dashboarding tools (for example, Tableau). Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus. Bachelors degree required. Must currently reside in San Franscisco Bay Area and willing to go on-site 3x a week.
