About the role:
We are looking for a Data Science Manager with experience in people management to lead and mentor a team of ML Enthusiasts that drive us towards a new and exciting future built on Machine Learning and Generative AI. You find and validate opportunities, prioritise for impact and drive the development with your team to build the Marktplaats of the future!

Key responsibilities:

• Manage a team of Data Scientists and ML Engineers, coaching them and developing their career progression.
• Validate and prioritise ML use-cases across the Product & Tech organisation according to the product and business needs.
• Find and execute on the right approach to materialise these opportunities into business value and operational efficiency.
• Lead the discovery, design and development of ML and AI products.
• Drive adoption of AI tooling and promote best practices in ML and AI.
• Make sure Marktplaats stays up to date in regards to new discoveries around ML and (Gen)AI.

What we’re looking for:

• Experience managing teams of Data Scientists or ML Engineers working with a modern data stack.
• Strong understanding of core data, ML and AI concepts.
• Extensive experience leading the design and development of ML and AI products.
• Extensive experience in identifying and prioritising ML and AI use-cases to drive business and customer impact.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, or a related field.

Interview Process:
1st stage: Initial call with the TA team (15 minutes)
2nd stage: Interview with the Hiring manager and a member of our team (60 minutes)
3rd stage: Offline technical assessment and in-person case with case presentation to the Hiring manager and one member of our team (90 minutes)
4th stage: Final interview with the Hiring manager and one senior manager (60 minutes)
