About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an great opportunity for a Senior Data Engineer to join our Hunter Class Program based at Osborne & Tonsley in Adelaide.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
You will be responsible for the design, build and preparation of data platforms and the associated integration from systems of record to facilitate analysis, visualisation and communication of data and analytics. They also will manage key enterprise wide analytics visualisations as well as provide advice and coaching on taking evidenced based approaches and undertake detailed analysis of prioritised analytics programs.
The role will interact with business and IT teams and Senior Stakeholders on a regular basis to support them and the broader business by providing guidance on reporting and analytics dashboard design and build to facilitate accurate and timely reporting, insights, and analysis to better inform their decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure efficient, sustainable and best practice design and build of data platforms to facilitate efficient analysis
  • Ensure security requirements are adhered to and appropriate data sets are available to relevant teams and users within our company so as to ensure our Commonwealth obligations are met and adhered to
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to assist them to communicate and interpret reporting to support decision-making
  • Work with relevant stakeholders and provide guidance on data structures to deliver impactful reporting and analytics
  • Evaluate new data science technologies to be introduced and deployed
  • Help with development of architectural elements of data
  • Operate within a hybrid micro services monolithic architecture
  • Integrate and communicate with varied teams and collaborators

About YOU

  • Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau, Graphana is considered advantageous
  • Experience with T-SQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL, Mongo, influx, PostGres, Matlab, Tensorflow is considered desirable
  • Experience in dimensional modelling, JavaScript APIs and authentication & Machine Learning is considered desirable
  • Experience with Azure infrastructure and data services
  • Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain NV-1 Clearance
  • Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
