JOB DESCRIPTION

KPN is looking for a Senior Data Scientist who is ready to shape the future of AI-driven personalization for millions of customers. You’ll join a team at the heart of KPN’s consumer market transformation, applying cutting-edge machine learning and reinforcement learning to deliver the Next Best Action in omnichannel marketing.

REQUIREMENTS

• A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Econometrics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience operationalizing AI solutions in complex corporate environments, ideally in marketing automation or campaign personalization.
• Deep expertise in SQL, Python, and advanced machine learning models. Experience with Dataiku DSS, Adobe AEP, or Polars is a strong plus.
• Strong conceptual skills to oversee and debug complex data systems.
• A sense of ownership, combined with collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent communication skills; fluency in English is required, Dutch is a bonus.

YOUR ROLE

As a Senior Data Scientist, you’ll take ownership of running, improving, and scaling our existing machine learning models and pipelines. You will operate at the crossroads of data science, engineering, and business strategy, making sure our personalization ecosystem delivers measurable value.

You’ll be expected to:

• Lead the operation and continuous improvement of advanced machine learning models (MLOps).
• Debug and optimize complex data value chains, ensuring reliable and scalable pipelines.
• Translate business requirements into actionable insights and structure backlogs for business and IT stakeholders.
• Work closely with analysts, machine learning engineers, and product owners in an agile AI team.
• Help prioritize and shape sprints in line with the personalization roadmap and long-term vision.
• Continuously refine the Marketing Personalisation Ecosystem, pushing the boundaries of what personalization can achieve.

• A contract until 31 March 2026, with the possibility of extension (the program will continue beyond this date).

• Salary range: € 7.500,00 – € 9.000,00 gross per month (based on 40 hours, depending on experience)
