Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

You will be part of Seequent Labs, a research, prototyping and data science team with a culture of experimentation and customer engagement. As a data scientist you will contribute to a multi-disciplinary team with your expertise in machine learning, AI and data though novel and creative applications in subsurface modelling. Our team targets a wide variety of AI-related research fields, including computer vision, graphical models, natural language processing, advanced signal processing, unsupervised learning and clustering, reinforcement learning, etc.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

  • Problem-solve using machine learning and AI technologies including large language models (LLM).
  • Be deeply involved in all aspects of producing innovative machine learning applications (design, maintenance and deployment).
  • Develop cutting-edge AI/ML algorithms and models using best practices, while analyzing user challenges, workflows, and use cases to drive innovative solutions.
  • Provide a technological watch over various areas of AI/ML and assist in data acquisition from diverse sources, while maintaining data integrity and quality.
  • Effectively communicate data and results, present findings to peers, internal stakeholders, and users.
  • Prepare reports and presentations and collaborate to help grow the ML team and ML capabilities.

IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, YOU SHOULD HAVE:

  • BSc, MSc or PhD in machine learning or a related specialty in data science, a quantitative science, mathematics, computer science
  • Demonstratable experience in research and development in machine learning – including deep learning and advanced techniques.
  • Proficiency in utilising large language models.
  • Expertise in designing, building and maintaining machine learning models and data pipelines.
  • Preferred experience with AI models for solving problems related to imagery, GIS and/or 3D data e.g. point cloud and meshes.
  • Commercial software development experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with cloud-based data solutions.
