Company Description Job Description As a Senior Data Scientist – Tech Lead, you will take ownership of end-to-end delivery for complex, data-driven projects that combine multiple machine learning models and software components. You’ll lead technical design, architecture, and implementation for a key project within our Data Science organization, ensuring that our solutions deliver measurable business impact and technical excellence. You will act as the technical anchor for a small team (2–5 members), coordinating design, delivery, and quality across all project components, while mentoring junior data scientists and collaborating closely with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders. This is a technical leadership role within a single complex project scope — focused on delivery excellence, technical decision-making, and fostering a high-performing team culture. YOUR ROLE AT SIXT You lead end-to-end delivery of data science projects, ensuring timely execution, technical quality, and alignment with business goals. You translate complex business challenges into scalable ML solutions, balancing experimentation with long-term maintainability. You own the technical architecture, designing robust, integrated systems in collaboration with platform and product teams. You mentor and grow your team, fostering a collaborative, learning-driven culture and supporting career development. You champion engineering excellence, driving best practices in coding, testing, CI/CD, and observability across ML pipelines. You influence product strategy through clear communication of technical trade-offs, risks, and data-driven insights to stakeholders. YOUR SKILLS MATTER Applied Machine Learning Expertise You bring 5+ years of experience in Data Science or Machine Learning, with a strong track record of delivering production-grade ML solutions across diverse domains. Technical Leadership You have 1+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, guiding teams through end-to-end ML project lifecycles—from problem framing to deployment. Modeling Mastery Proven ability to lead end-to-end machine learning projects from design to production. Engineering Excellence Strong proficiency in Python and common ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn). Experience designing and evaluating ML models using diverse metrics and validation strategies. Strong understanding of data pipelines, APIs, and productionization of ML systems. Mentorship & Best Practices You’ve mentored junior team members and championed engineering best practices, fostering a culture of learning and technical excellence. Communication & Collaboration You excel at translating complex technical concepts into clear business insights, and thrive in cross-functional environments with diverse stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Experience in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure) and modern MLOps practices. Exposure to large-scale data systems, streaming data, or multi-model architectures.
