Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Database Engineer with a strong background in designing, building, and maintaining complex database systems to support a federal client in the Washington, DC area. The Senior Database Engineer requires deep expertise in PL/SQL development, performance optimization, and cross-functional collaboration to support enterprise-level applications and data infrastructure. This role requires an ACTIVE Top Secret/TS Clearance

QUALIFICATIONS OF THE SENIOR DATABASE ENGINEER:

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in database engineering or development roles
• Advanced proficiency in PL/SQL and Oracle SQL
• Strong grasp of query optimization and performance tuning
• Familiarity with automation using VBA and scripting in Unix environments
• Hands-on experience working front-end technologies such as HTML and CSS
• Experience with cloud platforms including Oracle Cloud Services and Pivotal Cloud Foundry
• Proven track record managing databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL (versions 8.4.x to 9.5.x), MS SQL Server, and DynamoDB
• Understanding of multi-tier architectures and GIS systems like PostGIS
• Comfortable working across diverse operating systems including Solaris, Red Hat Linux, Windows, and Oracle VM.
• Expertise in configurations using Active Data Guard and GoldenGate

• Architect and implement scalable database solutions using PL/SQL, ensuring high performance and reliability
• Develop and refine stored procedures, triggers, and packages to support business logic and data workflows
• Conduct root cause analysis on data-related issues and implement corrective measures to maintain system integrity.
