POSITION DESCRIPTION:

CGI Federal is seeking an experienced Senior Database Engineer for an exciting opportunity within our Intel Community.
This position is located in Reston, VA.

Responsibilities

YOUR FUTURE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex database management systems workstations and servers on multiple operating systems in both cloud-hosted and on-premises systems.
  • Implement and maintain smooth operation and physical design of databases.
  • Coordinate, direct, and perform complex database software installations and upgrades to operating systems and related database software packages.
  • Schedule installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Continually monitor and tune multiple database systems and databases to achieve optimum performance levels. Ensures database data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate solutions of varying complexities.
  • Ensure database recoverability by developing and implementing a schedule of database backups and archive operations.
  • Plan and implement the modernization of database implementations.
  • Develop, implement, and promote standard operating procedures and schedules.
  • Conduct audits of databases to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Develop and implement new standards, policies and procedures.
  • Incumbent in this job works closely with Systems Admins, database engineers, and software developers to help determine and develop the database software and databases that will be implemented.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related STEM field a plus.
  • Active TS/SCI with Poly
  • Strong and demonstrated proficiency in relational database design and maintenance
  • 5+ years experience of database design and development in Defense or secured Government Installations.
  • Experience within a lean Agile best practices (Jira) and version control (Git).
  • Advanced experience with SQL scripting
  • 3+ years experience with programming tools (Java, Python)
  • Cloud platform experience, preferably AWS
  • 3+ years experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
  • DevOps experience (Docker, Kubernetes) and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation)

Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and license and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $88,200.00 - $214,800.00.
