Role Overview: We are seeking a Senior Datacentre Technician to join our growing infrastructure team at RockawayX Infra s.r.o. In this role, you will be responsible for the performance, maintenance, and support of our datacentre facilities, ensuring optimal uptime and reliability of our systems that power cutting-edge blockchain applications. Your work will involve hands-on management of hardware installations, troubleshooting, and managing the datacentre network to ensure smooth operation. You will play a crucial role in monitoring environmental conditions, maintaining equipment, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to capacity planning as we scale our infrastructure. What you'll do: - Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers and network devices. - Monitor the datacentre’s performance and address any incidents or issues promptly. - Implement and uphold best practices for datacentre operations, ensuring systems are properly maintained and secure. - Collaborate with software engineers and systems architects to optimize infrastructure performance and reliability. - Conduct regular audits and assessments of datacentre systems and processes, identifying opportunities for improvement. - Assist in capacity planning, ensuring efficient use of power and space resources. - Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and staff members. Must-have 3+ years of hands-on experience in datacenter or Point of Presence (PoP) environments. Solid knowledge of 100G optics (QSFP28 / QSFP-DD). Scripting skills (Bash, Python). English proficiency sufficient for vendor communication and support. Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time. Hands-on mindset with attention to detail (e.g., precise labeling). Ability to bring innovation and improvements into processes and infrastructure. Greenfield environment – no legacy processes, brand-new racks. Dedicated budget for your own tools (OTDR, labelers, custom scripts). International travel opportunities, primarily within Europe (up to 25% in the first year), with Prague as your home base.
