Description:
Location: This hybrid role requires 3 days on-site at our Burnaby office and 2 days remote per week.
Salary: $120,000 – $140,000
Actual compensation within the range will be based on experience
We also offer quarterly variable compensation package (bonus) + benefits
Responsibilities:
Purpose of the role
As a Senior Delivery Manager in Commercial Technology, you are entrusted with overseeing the seamless execution of technology projects across critical functions such as HR, Finance, Business Development, Technology, and Supply Chain. Your primary objective is to ensure these projects not only meet but exceed business objectives, delivering tangible value, efficiency, and stakeholder satisfaction. In addition to project management, your role involves coaching teams and establishing effective governance processes. By doing so, you play a pivotal role in driving sustained success, fostering innovation, and enhancing competitiveness within our commercial operations. You will provide guidance and mentorship for Project and Delivery Managers within Specsavers Canada, ensuring high standards, and providing feedback for improvement as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Project Leadership: Provide strategic direction and oversight for the successful delivery of complex projects, aligning with organizational objectives and priorities. Lead the development and execution of project plans, ensuring alignment with broader business strategies.
- Team Empowerment and Mentorship: Foster a culture of excellence and accountability within project teams, empowering members to take ownership of their work and excel in their roles. Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management: Cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, clients, and external partners, to understand their needs and expectations. Effectively communicate project progress, risks, and opportunities, ensuring alignment and buy-in at all levels.
- Risk Mitigation and Problem Solving: Proactively identify potential risks and challenges that may impact project delivery, developing robust mitigation strategies to address them. Lead problem-solving efforts, leveraging analytical thinking and creativity to overcome obstacles and drive project success.
- Optimization of Delivery Processes: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery processes, methodologies, and tools. Develop and implement innovative approaches to streamline workflows, increase efficiency, and deliver greater value to stakeholders.
- Performance Management and Accountability: Establish clear performance metrics and KPIs to measure project progress and success. Monitor performance against targets, identifying areas for improvement and taking corrective action as needed to ensure project objectives are met or exceeded.
- Thought Leadership and Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to project management. Provide thought leadership within the organization, championing innovation and driving the adoption of new tools and methodologies to enhance project delivery capabilities.
- Resource Optimization and Budget Oversight: Optimize resource allocation and utilization across projects to maximize efficiency and productivity. Manage project budgets effectively, tracking expenses and ensuring financial accountability while delivering value within budget constraints.
- Integration with IT Service Management (ITSM) Process: Collaborate with ITSM teams to ensure seamless integration of project deliverables into IT service operations. Align project activities with ITIL principles and practices, facilitating smooth service transition and minimizing disruptions to ongoing operations.
- Change Management Leadership: Lead change management efforts to facilitate smooth adoption of new processes, technologies, or organizational changes introduced through projects. Engage stakeholders effectively, communicate the rationale for change, and mitigate resistance to ensure successful implementation.
- Collaboration with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and Testing Teams: Partner closely with UAT and testing teams to develop comprehensive test plans and schedules. Ensure timely execution of testing activities, coordinate feedback collection, and oversee resolution of identified issues to meet project milestones and quality standards.
- Executive Communication and Reporting: Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, delivering insightful reports that distill complex project information into clear, actionable insights. Provide comprehensive analyses of project performance, highlighting achievements, risks, and opportunities for optimization. Tailor communication to the needs of different stakeholders, ensuring key messages resonate and drive informed decision-making at the highest levels of the organization.
