Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking a full time Senior Dental Assistant for our busy Peekskill, NY site. This position is responsible for assisting the dentist(s) and dental hygienist(s) in the direct provision of dental services to patients of the center. He/She is also responsible for sterilization, preparation and inventory control of dental instruments and supplies. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: · Monitor and update charts: enter date of visit, department and provider name on daily log sheet; add sheets to medical record; place and document radiographs in/on X-ray folder; place treatment plans, periodontal charts, informed consent forms, referral forms, and contracts for complex treatment into the dental subdivision of the comprehensive medical record. · Maintain dental laboratory, processes instruments, and monitor lab cases (check-in of lab cases, pouring impressions where indicated, storing cases, sending out lab cases, completing lab log sheets, etc.). · Follow weekly and monthly maintenance procedures for all sterilization equipment. · Responsible for pouring study models. · Prepare and submit health specialty referrals and predeterminations. · Under the supervision of the Infection Control Officer, follows OSHA standards of infection control under CDC guidelines endorsed by the department, and organization. · Maintain water lines (using ICX tablets) properly. · Train new dental staff. Records patient appointment data daily i.e., no shows, cancellations, emergencies and payment source (Medicaid, self-pay, etc.) to accurately collect monthly dental statistics. · Assist dentists/hygienists with patient care. Minimum Education Requirement: High School Diploma or GED and Dental Assistant Certificate Minimum Work-Related Experience: 2+ years of experience as a chairside dental assistant Language Requirement: Bilingual Spanish and English are required Salary Range: $22.00-24.00/hour
