Job Title: Sr. Department Controller
Reports To: Financial Planning Manager
Pay: 66.25/hr.
General Summary
Serves as the primary financial liaison between Finance and the department, supporting strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, and process improvement. Provides financial analysis, guidance, and reporting to senior leadership, ensuring alignment with Airport standards and long-term financial goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as department’s financial advisor and liaison with Finance.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting.
  • Provide guidance on accounting, business, and process improvement issues.
  • Partner with senior leadership to implement efficient processes.
  • Prepare financial analyses (e.g., alternatives, NPV, operating costs).
  • Monitor contracts, funding, accruals, and capital projects.
  • Support audits and ad hoc projects as needed.
  • Present financial findings and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Coach and provide oversight to other department controllers.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Six (6) years of progressive experience in finance/accounting or business analysis.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license.
  • Equivalent education/experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial concepts (NPV, IRR), and cost allocation.
  • Experience with ERP systems (Oracle, PeopleSoft), KPIs, and metrics reporting.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, databases, and financial modeling.
  • Strong communication, reporting, and process improvement skills.
  • Proven ability to work with senior management in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA license strongly preferred.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion, EPM, and governmental/private sector finance.
