SENIOR DEPLOYMENT ENGINEER WIRELESS THE OPPORTUNITY At Downer Energy and Utilities, we are committed to delivering essential services that power and connect communities across Australia. We are seeking an experienced Senior Deployment Engineer Wireless to join our Telecommunications team. Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will lead the planning, coordination, and delivery of end to end wireless telecommunications construction and integration activities. You will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope and budget, while meeting client requirements, Australian Standards, and legislative obligations. You will also provide leadership and mentoring to a team of Deployment Engineers and Coordinators. Key responsibilities include: * Managing the end to end build process including construction planning, materials, permits, contractor engagement, and handover documentation * Leading delivery teams to ensure successful deployment of telecommunications infrastructure projects * Reviewing construction documentation, scopes of work, and bills of materials * Supporting constructability reviews during the SAED phase * Coordinating field activities including site inductions, inspections, material delivery, and issue resolution * Managing project schedules, resource allocation, and delivery performance * Supporting commissioning, integration, and construction troubleshooting activities * Driving compliance with quality, safety, and operational standards * Providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring to engineering teams Based on project requirements, travel to project sites may be required. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR To be successful in this role, you will bring: * Tertiary qualifications in Telecommunications Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline * Minimum five years experience as a Deployment Engineer or Project Engineer within large scale wireless telecommunications construction projects * Previous experience leading and managing engineering teams * Strong experience delivering telecommunications projects for major Australian carriers including nbn and Telstra * Demonstrated subcontractor and contractor management experience * Strong understanding of Australian telecommunications design and construction standards * Knowledge of 4G and 5G wireless technologies including BTS, RRUs, antenna and feeder systems * Mandatory experience with Ericsson equipment * Knowledge of fibre and microwave transmission systems * Experience interpreting construction drawings, developing scopes of work, and conducting constructability reviews * Understanding of SAED processes, commissioning, and integration activities * Strong stakeholder management, communication, and relationship building skills * Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast paced environment * A strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement WHAT WE OFFER At Downer, we invest in our people and provide a supportive environment where you can thrive.
