A Snapshot As a Senior Design Engineer – Electrical based in our North Sydney or Melbourne HQ, you will report to the Design Manager and work closely with various teams and leadership in Australia, making your mark in a number of ways: Lead the design, review, and optimisation of electrical systems for hyperscale data centres, ensuring best-in-class energy efficiency, resilience and reliability. Drive innovative solutions for critical power infrastructure to support high-density deployments and sustainability objectives. Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and knowledge sharing across the team. Your Day to Day Lead the development and review of electrical designs for mission-critical power systems, including HV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, and switchgear, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards. Produce max demand calculations in line with the redundancy system topology, single-line diagrams and equipment schedules, Oversee the design development of HV/LV single-line diagrams, engineering calculations and studies and major equipment layouts. Interface with key customers and liaise on all critical aspects of electrical design. Support power system modelling and studies, including reliability and redundancy analysis. Identify and mitigate risks related to power continuity, capacity, and system performance. Actively coordinate design development with other disciplines and stakeholders. Prepare basis of design documents, technical specifications, and reports for internal and external stakeholders. Support project teams from inception to delivery of multi-MW hyperscale solutions. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or higher (required). Minimum 8 years’ experience in electrical engineering, with at least 5 years in data centre or mission-critical environments. Demonstrated experience in design of HV/LV electrical systems, UPS, generators, and associated infrastructure for data centres. Understanding of critical cooling systems, and their integration with electrical infrastructure. Understanding of ICT, telecommunication infrastructure and fibre connectivity. Strong knowledge of power system analysis and principles, including fault level, load flow, harmonics and protection studies. Strong knowledge of redundancy system topology (Block and Distributed Redundancy). Familiarity with relevant industry codes and standards. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience in construction and commissioning is favourable but not essential.
