SUMMARY

Weatherhaven is looking for a Senior Design Engineer to joint our team. The roll will be responsible for developing new and existing products, from concept to production. Design work will include sheetmetal components, welded and riveted assemblies, textiles, HVAC, AC and DC electrical systems, power generation, and plumbing systems.

REQUIREMENTS

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • +10 years experience working in a professionally organized product development engineering team.
  • Professional Engineer in good standing with EGBC.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability to apply fundamental engineering principles.
  • Demonstrated capability to apply engineering design tools including FMEA, FEA, CFD.
  • Good knowledge of design for fabrication processes and techniques.
  • People skills i.e., ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and passport without travel restrictions.
  • Ability to hold a Government of Canada security clearance.

Responsibilities
  • Independently manage complex design projects reporting directly to Project Managers and the Head of Design.
  • Understand and develop design requirements taking into account customer discussions, internal and industry standards, and past project performance.
  • Mitigate risks by activities such as FMEA, risk assessment, and validation testing oversight.
  • Complete detailed design of mechanical systems including 3D CAD modelling & drawings per ASME Y14.100.
  • Participate in team design reviews as projects progress, and review design documentation.
  • Support prototype assembly and testing for First Article builds and continue production support throughout the life cycle.
