(Senior) Design Engineer

Wärtsilä Marine Power, R&D and Engineering is looking for a (Senior) Design Engineer to develop new design solutions for 4-stroke engines together with experienced R&D engineers. Design tasks will give you a large variety of different engine systems and components focusing on diesel, gas and multifuel 4-stroke engines for Marine and Energy solutions with a view to decarbonization technologies.
In this position, you will be participating in new engine development as well as customer delivery engine design with a good perspective on high-technology solutions for medium-speed reciprocating engines. We provide a good opportunity to learn and grow in the design area.
REQUIREMENTS:
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Engineering
- At least 3 years experience of design work
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Meeting facilitation, e-meeting
- Utilize IM applications and IM tools (MS Office)
- Practical experience of 3D design tools (NX)
- Fluent skills in English both written and spoken
- Hands-on mentality and a structured way of working
- Readiness to occasional travelling to production sites, suppliers, and customers
- Experience in R&D tasks
Responsibilities:
- Design engine components and systems
- Ensure that alternative designs and solutions are benchmarked
- Ensure that new designs and solutions comply with legislative rules
- Ensure that designs are cost-efficient and optimized for manufacturing
- Qualify the new design tools further on to be used in the design team
- Participate in the development of new design solutions and engine systems together with R&D experts and/or senior or chief design engineers
- Give technical support to internal stakeholders
