ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the team lead to create optimal physical data models of datasets and maintain data maps and systems interrelationship diagrams for data domains and systems.
  • Act as a point of contact for VSBA staff requiring BI and report writing assistance.
  • Provide technical expertise within the Business Systems Unit and the wider Victorian School Building Authority.
  • Develop and maintain metadata information including data dictionaries, data lineage maps, and entity relationship diagrams to facilitate analysts and business users in finding relevant information for analysis and development of data tools such as dashboards and machine learning models.
  • Establish and nurture productive and consultative relationships, essential for delivering outcomes.
  • Offer expert advice on asset data concepts and usage and contribute as a subject matter expert to various projects.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of VSBA’s reporting database, known as School Asset Information Lake (SAIL).
  • Identify data gaps and lead the development of new data sources.
  • Extract, transform, and load data from multiple sources into a central data warehouse.
  • Provide advice and recommendations regarding data and systems.
  • Utilise strong conceptual and analytical skills in client-focused roles.
  • Independently analyse problems and demonstrate excellent communication skills in executing position responsibilities.
