Responsibilities

SUMMARY AND ROLE INFORMATION:

The Software Update Manager (SUM) ABAP as part of the Software Logistics Toolset is the tool for ABAP upgrades in the public cloud. Technologically, the SUM touches the entire stack, from the database to the operating system to the ABAP application server. In the Steampunk setup, SUM is running in a Kubernetes managed environment as a container. The SUM team is responsible for building, testing, and provisioning these containers.
We are looking for a (senior) software engineer with experience and passion for development and operation of container-based cloud upgrades.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Gain knowledge in the specifics of running SUM in the Kubernetes environment.
  • Support the building and provisioning of the Cloud Upgrade Container (sumbox).
  • Establish, automate, and support tests of the sumbox in the Steampunk/Kubernetes environment.
  • Collaborate closely with the Steampunk ABAP Platform team.
  • Implement support for additional software stacks (S/4HANA, IBP).
