PROFILE SUMMARY

Wesgroup is poised for substantial growth over the next several years and in preparation for this exciting and challenging phase, we are actively seeking a highly engaged, driven and experienced Senior Development Accountant to join our team.
We are currently seeking a Senior Development Accountant to join our high-performing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys cross-functional collaboration, and is eager to make a meaningful impact on large-scale development projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Project Financial Management & Reporting
  • Prepare and analyze job cost reports in collaboration with Project, Development, Sales and Marketing Managers.
  • Prepare monthly loan progress draws with all supporting documentation.
  • Conduct monthly trial balance reviews and variance analysis to ensure accuracy and identify required adjustments.
  • Prepare project cash flow forecasts, updating monthly to reflect changes in proformas and schedules.
  • Prepare GST reconciliation and filings for project entities
  • Accounting Operations & Controls
  • Review and approve vendor statement of adjustments for sales closings
  • Review and approve payables, contracts, change orders (COs), and purchase orders (POs) for accuracy.
  • Prepare invoice accruals and ensure timely and accurate journal entries (e.g., chargebacks, cost allocations, asset transfers, amortizations, sales closings, and loan fundings).
  • Manage weekly, mid-month, and month-end payment listings, ensuring compliance with WCB, COI, and Stat Dec requirements.
  • Mentorship & Collaboration
  • Mentor and train junior team members, reviewing their work and supporting their development as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure alignment on project status, costs, and timelines.
  • Support external audit and review engagements as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • 3–5 years of experience in Development or Construction Accounting.
  • 5+ years of overall accounting experience preferred.
  • CPA designation (or in progress) preferred.
  • Experience mentoring or training team members is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Yardi Voyager 7S is a strong plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities.
  • Solid understanding of ASPE and real estate-specific accounting practices.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities with precision and accuracy.
