Responsibilities

WHAT IS THE ROLE?

The Senior DevOps Engineer works as a part of a collaborative full stack development team and brings expertise of both engineering, coding, and operational experience of Azure-based infrastructure managed via Infrastructure as Code. The engineer will understand the software development lifecycle, be responsible for co-ordinating changes across all environments, and have expertise using automation tools for developing automated CI/CD pipelines.
You will be passionate about all thing’s “automation”, including accuracy, diagnostics, performance, and scaling. You should be independent, communicative, and like to develop relationships with people. You should be driven by delivering the best possible results where success is confirmed by the customer.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan and conduct change on production and pre-production environments in-line with our policies.
  • Execute the end-of-sprint release cycles.
  • Execute scheduled customer releases (to staging, hotfix and/or production).
  • Build tools to assist and automate releases.
  • Run system diagnostics, identify, and fix priority issues.
  • Build tools to reduce occurrences of errors and improve customer experience.
  • Perform root cause analysis for environment errors.
  • Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Develop data audit, archiving and restoration processes.
  • Incorporate monitoring, resilience and auto-healing into the environments.
  • Manage 3rd party product deployments we incorporate into our products.

WHO IS BEST SUITED TO THIS ROLE?

  • Experience managing Kubernetes clusters, AKS experience is preferred.
  • Creating and maintaining Docker images.
  • IaC experience, preferably Terraform.
  • DevOps pipeline management using GitLab, or alternative CI/CD.
  • Understanding of relational and NoSQL databases (inc. performance tuning)
  • Experience with multiple cloud services (mainly Azure based), including:


    • Azure Postgres Flexible



      • Kubernetes Service



        • Azure Cache for Redis



          • Integration with other networks e.g. VPN / PrivateLin



            • Service Bus



              • Storage (Blob, Table)



                • Azure Key Vault



                  • Application Gateways



                    • Azure Cosmos DB

                    • An understanding of security systems such as workload protection, runtime protection, CSPM and WAF’s.
                    • Knowledge of “in transit” and “at rest” encryption methods.
