About Us

Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies is a joint venture between two industry leaders with a clear vision for automotive’s next chapter. From operating systems to zonal controllers to cloud and connectivity solutions, we’re addressing the challenges of electric vehicles through technology that will set the standards for software-defined vehicles around the world.

The road to the future is uncharted. By combining our expertise across connectivity, AI, security and more, we’ll map a new way forward. Working together, we’ll create a future that’s more connected, more intelligent, more sustainable for everyone.

Role Summary

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you own significant services, pipelines or infrastructure domains end-to-end, developing plans and strategies to improve performance, reliability and developer experience in your area. You independently design and implement scalable CI/CD systems, infrastructure and observability solutions that enable seamless, high-performance software delivery for RV Tech’s vehicles and platforms.

You act as a subject-matter expert within the team, influencing technical decisions, mentoring peers and consistently elevating engineering quality and operational discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Design & Implementation – Design and build scalable, fault-tolerant CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure patterns, selecting appropriate tools and architectures to meet product and reliability goals.
  • Reliability, Automation & Operations – Own the operational health of your services, defining SLOs and SLIs, improving MTTR and implementing robust incident response and on-call practices.
  • Systems, Tooling & Architecture – Lead improvements to build systems, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and deployment tooling, integrating third-party/open-source components where appropriate.
  • Stakeholder Management & Collaboration – Collaborate closely with developers, QA, Product and Security to align delivery pipelines with product roadmaps, balancing quality, speed and risk.
  • Security, Compliance & Quality – Implement and champion secure-by-default configurations, secrets management, compliance automation and robust testing gates in the SDLC.
  • Continuous Improvement & Learning – Drive initiatives that reduce toil, improve developer productivity and enhance observability and reliability across the team, sharing learnings through documentation and mentoring.

Qualifications

  • Typically 4–6+ years of DevOps, SRE or related engineering experience owning production services and pipelines.
  • Deep expertise in at least one major cloud provider and container orchestration platform (e.g. Kubernetes), with strong skills in infrastructure-as-code and configuration management.
  • Proven experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and build systems at scale (e.g. GitLab CI, Jenkins, Bazel, Gradle).
  • Proficient with observability tooling (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Datadog, OpenTelemetry) and using metrics/logs/traces to drive operational decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage assignments with multiple inputs and deliverables, understanding connections across workstreams, and leading cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong communication skills, able to influence peers, support change and facilitate thoughtful discussions in complex technical settings.
