  • MD required
  • A minimum of 5+ or more years of relevant experience including clinical patient care, quality improvement, medical account management, Health Economics & Outcomes Research including strong methodological skills (study design, data analysis, and interpretation).
  • Experience leading a matrix organization with the ability to manage without direct authority.
  • Demonstration of strong strategic thinking skills, as evidenced by the ability to identify alternative scenarios, resulting implications, and development of pragmatic recommendations for direction or action.
  • Strong written and verbal communication influencing skills to address leadership and external audiences.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10+ years pharmaceutical medical account management.
  • Field Medical experience strongly preferred.
  • Residency, clinical and/or management experience preferred.
  • Advanced data analytics and outcomes research experience strongly preferred.
  • Track record of developing technology and data partnerships that unlock value a plus.
  • Ability to network and build partnerships/collaborations with external parties, often at senior levels of healthcare organizations strongly preferred.

ROLE SUMMARY

The Senior Director- Advanced Medical Engagement Lead reports to the Advanced Medical Solutions Team Leader in the U.S. Field Medical organization. The role involves providing both consultative and direct support and leadership to assess, develop, and implement complex, collaborative projects and non-interventional studies. This strategic leader will work cross-functionally and interact across multiple field and HQ functions including but not limited to Medical Affairs, Real World Evidence, Medical Value and Evidence Generation, Data Science, Digital Innovation, Biostatistics, Legal, Regulatory, Epidemiology and commercial to achieve project success. This colleague also will provide organizational support for key teams considering initiatives and may serve on the U.S. Intake Committee or similar review committees.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintains excellent cross-functional communication and working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to advance projects/studies (e.g., Medical, Compliance, Medical Governance, Legal, Safety, Value & Evidence, Statistics, Regulatory, Brand Commercial, RWE, etc.) through all stages of strategic operations, planning, and project execution.
  • Strategic partner across Pfizer stakeholders within and outside of Medical Affairs to engage healthcare organizations on complex, innovative initiatives, including non-interventional studies, studies with minimal risk, quality improvement projects or health care professionals/organizations (HCP/HCO) engagements from concept inception through publication.
  • Assesses strategic priorities of Pfizer concept owners and leaders and provides subject matter expertise on ways to align and achieve their strategic imperatives.
  • Advises stakeholders such as field account teams on project direction.
  • Provides subject matter expertise on appropriate conduct and necessary documentation to minimize risk to Pfizer for relevant activities and ensure adherence to Pfizer policies and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Provides strategic input, support, and guidance with questions for collaborative medical engagements initiated by HQ, field medical, commercial, healthcare organizations etc including directing initial assessment, triaging opportunities for review, assessing organizational capabilities and feasibility, and providing both the clinical and business relevance to proposed design. Maintains strategic input through execution and closeout.
  • Provides direction in advanced data analytics including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and predictive analytics within projects and studies in close coordination with Medical, Clinical Informatics, RWE and data science colleagues.
  • Advises project/study teams on activities related to execution, budget and direction, as appropriate and assigned by leadership.
  • Guides study operations and data management support needed for relevant activities Leads the conversation to improve efficiency and drive value by proposing solutions and being a change agent cross-functionally.

Working with Commercial Colleagues

  • Advises commercial field account team colleagues and leadership on project direction and feasibility.
  • Works collaboratively with commercial colleagues to guide or develop strategies and solutions pertaining to initiatives as appropriate.
  • Contributes medical insights to commercially led projects as appropriate

Working with Medical Colleagues

  • Works cross functionally across areas of medical affairs where appropriate on development of viable strategies designed to expand the body of evidence and qualify and quantify clinical value.
  • Advises LT on external and internal challenges, market dynamics and needs in complex collaborations to drive organizational change.
  • Works collaboratively with leadership, across medical affairs and brand/asset teams to identify and qualify opportunities for collaboration with healthcare organizations that align with organizational strategies to maximize impact.
  • May serve on the Intake Committee or other committee(s) as needed.

Working with External Partners

  • Provides strategic input and identification, qualification, development and execution of innovative solutions of value to Pfizer and to healthcare organizations, partners and vendors.
  • Provides input and coordination on strategic, tactical and compliance areas with both internal and external partners from concept identification through closeout.

Resource Management

  • Works with stakeholders from various sources including Leadership, brand teams and other organizations to strategically manage resources.
  • Contributes to an engaged and effective work environment.
  • Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures.
