OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Data Science to lead our data science initiatives and drive innovative solutions across our organization. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in machine learning, data analytics, and big data technologies. This role requires strategic thinking, exceptional leadership abilities, and a passion for leveraging data to inform decision-making and enhance business outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, math, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience); Master’s/PhD preferred.
• 8+ years related experience, including 5+ years leading teams.
• Skilled in at least two machine learning approaches (supervised, unsupervised, reinforcement learning).
• Proven ability to communicate AI concepts and value to non-technical and executive audiences.
• Experience driving analytics adoption and business transformation through AI.
• Broad business process knowledge.
• Proficient in CI/CD pipelines, distributed computing, AWS, and software development/version control.
• Background in agriculture a plus.

• Partner with business leaders to identify and accelerate AI opportunities, reimagining workflows and applying modern optimization techniques to deliver faster business value.
• Translate complex AI concepts into clear business stories for non-technical and senior audiences, influencing strategic decisions and building confidence in AI innovation.
• Provide strategic direction for product delivery, ensuring scope, timeline, and budget alignment with regulations and policies.
• Lead AI and data science design and development practices, fostering innovation, continuous improvement, and organization-wide AI literacy and adoption.
• Build and sponsor a global data science community of practice to promote reuse, awareness, and alignment in analytics solutions.
• Present and advocate for AI solutions to non-technical stakeholders to guide strategic decisions.
• Deliver measurable business outcomes from AI investments, managing significant budgets and meeting defined value targets.
• Develop strategic partnerships with business and industry leaders to maximize the value of AI investments.
• Manage and coach team members, driving accountability, high performance, and an inclusive culture where data scientists can thrive.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
