Description
The Sr. Director, Cardiovascular Services (CVS) develops and implements high-level strategies and provides overall management of operations and resources for the CVS areas. The Inpatient CVS Directors and the CVS Director collaborate and are responsible for the development, communication and implementation of a strategic plan to grow the CVS program in volume, breadth, and depth of services. This team member is accountable for the OP operations of the CVS in a manner that ensures patient safety, meets or exceeds national quality standards, and is responsive to the need of the patients, their families, and the Medical Staff. They manage, directly and indirectly, the Associates involved in the daily operations for all outpatient departments including, but not limited to clinical offices, device clinics, ECHO, & stress testing. Other responsibilities include financial management, human resource management and management of the revenue cycle for the OP-CVS in accordance with corporate policies and procedures, regulatory guidelines, and statutes. Models appropriate behavior as exemplified in the EHS Mission, Vision and Values. Education: Required: -Bachelor's degree in business, health care administration, or related field Preferred: -Master's degree in health/hospital administration, business administration, or related field preferred. Experience: Required: -Comprehensive knowledge of business principles and techniques of administration, organization, and management to include an in-depth understanding of the key business issues that exist in the health care industry. These include, but are not limited to, knowledge of strategic and operational planning, health care economics, personnel administration, federal, state, and local laws, financial management, and trends in the health care industry. -At least 5 years of progressive experience in managing functions and departments in a clinical &/or business role with a knowledge of workflows and systems. -Knowledge of business office operations, particularly pertaining to third party billing and reimbursement activities. -Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and their application to academic medical centers and academic physician practices. -Proven skills in interpersonal relationships, planning, organizing, and follow-up, budget preparation and monitoring, and management and leadership. -Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities, be a team member and educate others, relate to all levels of the organization, comprehend complex and technical subjects, create and motivate behavior changes, translate financial and technical language to lay audiences, and plan, implement, and monitor processes in a complex health care environment. Preferred: -At least 3 years of direct management responsibility for a clinical setting, including budget responsibility. -Specific experience with cardiovascular services, practice management, practice management systems, financial management, and clinical management systems is preferred. Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration Required: -None Preferred: -A licensed registered nurse in the state of Tennessee The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents. Department Position Summary: -Provides strong leadership and direction in establishing an OP-CVS that meets or exceeds national quality standards. Ensures compliance with hospital, DNV, and other regulatory authorities. -In collaboration with inpatient CVS directors & system leadership, will assist in facilitation and coordination of system wide initiatives involving cardiovascular services. -Creates a culture of high clinical and professional standards, family centered care and service to referring physicians. -Supports the physician co-Directors of the CVS in the continual development of the academic mission, including the fellowship program and continuous medical academic or clinical programs. -Through the identification of grants and other funding, promotes research by physicians and other clinicians to create the next generation of techniques and technologies. -Prepares and administers an annual expense budget, capital request budget, and human resource utilization plan for OP services within the CVS -Through collaboration with the IP CVS directors, Lead business plan development process for new programs and services. -Promotes and builds strong professional and collegial relationships with Medical Staff, ancillary departments, and other internal and external partners.
