JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Director, Commercial Strategy Hemoglobinopathies is responsible for developing, leading, optimising & the successful implementation of the activation strategy for onboarding Authorized Treatment Centres (ATCs) for Vertex’s 1st hemoglobinopathy gene editing product launched within the International region. The Senior Director, Commercial Strategy Heme is also the process owner & lead for the commercial operations process & model to ensure a seamless end-to-end patient treatment journey. They will lead & partner cross functionally with Global & country teams to ensure the activation & commercial operations process delivers optimal customer experience and are built based on deep stakeholder insights.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business, or scientific degree required
• An advanced business degree/M.B.A. or scientific degree is preferred

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Typically requires significant work and supervisory/management experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Significant experience in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry, including international commercial and launch
  • Experience in haematology and/or rare disease; experience of Cell and Gene therapy
  • Direct experience across multiple countries or regions

Responsibilities
  • Leads the International Cross-Functional team and works cross functionally to ensure an integrated strategy and aligned operations regarding ATCs and patient treatment journey.
  • In collaboration with Countries and cross-functional partners (including Medical, Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain) owns the Authorised Treatment Centres’ activation strategy for International for onboarding specialist treatment centres.
  • In collaboration with Countries and cross-functional partners (including Medical, Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain), l eads & develops the commercial operations strategy for the International region.
  • Leads & is the process owner for the end to end treatment journey (order to product delivery) to ensure an optimised treatment journey
  • Leads on the external communication strategy on order management with ATCs.
  • Partners with the International & Country teams to develop forecasting assumptions, both short and long term need.
  • Partners with regional and country teams on the geographic expansion within the region and within countries and life-cycle management opportunities based high-quality analyses .
  • Generates and consolidates key insights across HCP and Patient stakeholders (through market research, ad boards, etc.).
  • Defines, secures, and coordinates implementation of resources for activation of Authorised Treatment Centres.
  • Leads a team to develop and implement tactical unbranded activities to support activation & onboarding of specialist treatment centres along with the commercial operations process upon launch.
  • Leads the Trade team on the returns & cancellations policy & process within the International region.
  • Partners with the country commercial leads, business support functions and International teams to develop & enhance the Veeva CRM functionality, utilising it as part of the account planning process.
  • Leads on the development, enhancement & roll out of all commercial operations digital platforms which includes the order management portal.
  • Partners with the Global, INTL & Country Supply chain teams to ensure optimal utilisation of slot & order management.
  • Partner with Global, Country & cross functional teams to scale the hematology programme to deliver against the commercial and business goals and objectives.
  • As a people manager, this role will have financial accountabilities and human resource responsibilities for assigned staff ensuring there is a full comprehensive & ongoing development plans in place for direct reports.
