POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the VP & Chief Development Officer, the Senior Director, Corporate Foundations Relations will lead revenue generating activities within the Development Office, for the Corporate and Foundation Relations (CFR) portfolios, whose revenue totals $10M+ annually. The Senior Director, Corporate Foundations Relations will sit on the Development Executive Leadership team, comprised of the VP & CDO and three other departmental leaders. Together, this group will set department and team strategy ensuring alignment with institutional priorities, monitor progress towards departmental and team goals, and lead and execute projects in support of BMCHS philanthropy, working collaboratively to identify and address system-wide opportunities and challenges. This position, in conjunction with the other Executive Leadership team members, will also oversee the implementation and roll out of philanthropic practices at the two newest hospitals within the BMCHS System, Brighton & South, with particular attention paid to building a robust Institutional Giving portfolio at each institution.
This position requires a combination of leadership, strategic planning, financial acumen, philanthropic experience, and operational expertise. The Senior Director, Corporate Foundations Relations must be an entrepreneur and strategist who can manage the complexities this work while managing a portfolio of top funders.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic Development expert. A demonstrated commitment to social justice and equality, a proven dedication to fostering inclusion and continuous learning, and a history of engagement within large social impact or healthcare organizations is essential.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 12+ years of fundraising and development experience in sizable, intricate organizations, with at least 10 years in a leadership role driving revenue, operations and performance outcomes required.
  • Data driven with experience leveraging technology and information to creatively identify prospects, retain and upgrade donors, steward gifts, and inform future investments in program growth.
  • Substantial experience in a matrixed organizational structure, effective cross-functional team collaboration, and adept management of competing priorities.
  • Experience and confidence leading organizational change with diverse constituencies and capacity building at all levels of the organization.
  • A proven track record of achieving or surpassing goals and developing fundraising strategy rooted in best practices in a medium to large, fast-paced nonprofit environment with a diverse revenue stream.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA):

  • Strategic leadership that can compellingly innovate fundraising processes, as well as envision new revenue-generating opportunities.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills are necessary along with the ability to be highly organized, creative, energetic, and assertive and exhibit the independent judgment and personal integrity necessary to carry out a senior management role in fundraising.
  • A teamwork-oriented approach to colleagues and proven ability to manage people in a positive and constructive environment are essential.
  • A keen understanding of the intricacies and opportunities within the healthcare domain is vital.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

  • Collaborate with department, hospital and system leadership, senior clinical and administrative staff, including Development colleagues, to establish strategic priorities and generate new philanthropic opportunities for the BMCHS Development portfolio.
  • Set goals, strategies, and priorities for the CFR portfolio to identify and engage funding entities to grow and diversify philanthropic support for BMCHS mission and priorities, including the strategic use of staff resources and development of best practices.
  • Determine key growth opportunity areas within the Corporate Foundation Relation portfolio and identify ROI to appropriately resource staffing and/or initiatives.
  • Ensure effective communication among Development staff and maintain momentum across all fundraising initiatives; identify opportunities to streamline operations and optimize resources.
  • Increase the visibility of BMC leadership and experts with funders through robust cultivation and stewardship plans.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging opportunities within institutional philanthropy.
  • Build strategic collaboration tools and processes necessary to optimize institutional fundraising internally and externally.
  • Participate in strategic planning with the VP & CDO and other executive leadership team members.
