POSITION SUMMARY:

LEE seeks a strategic, data quality leader to serve as the Senior Director, Data Quality & Insights, reporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP), Member Impact. The Senior Director will bring expertise in data governance, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration to deepen data quality, insights, and data-driven decision-making across LEE.
The Senior Director will lead efforts to ensure LEE’s data systems are accurate, accessible, and actionable. This role will manage the development of organization-wide data governance practices, performance tools, and learning systems that support strategic decision-making and accountability. By integrating data quality, research, and strategy, the Senior Director will help LEE generate stronger insights into member experience and impact. They will mentor and manage a team of data analysts responsible for the member data reporting, evaluation, and analysis functions across the organization. They will also co-lead a cross-functional Center of Excellence to elevate organizational fluency in measurement, learning, and reporting. This role plays a critical function in helping teams across LEE absorb, interpret, and act on data through storytelling, shared tools, and aligned strategies that advance LEE’s impact.
Position Location: Flexible
Travel Requirements: 10-15%, including team retreats and nationwide travel at least twice a year

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or commensurate years of work experience preferably in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (If you do not hold a Bachelor’s degree an additional 4 years of relevant experience is required. If you hold an Associate’s degree an additional 2 years of relevant experience is required.)
  • Minimum 9+ years of relevant professional experience in the areas of data governance, data management, insights, and research
  • Demonstrated experience supporting cross-functional teams absorb and apply data by building systems, tools, and shared practices for learning and improvement
  • Demonstrated Expertise in:
  • Databases & Querying: SQL, BigQuery
  • Data Quality Tools, such as Informatica, Talend, Collibra
  • BI Tools: preferably Tableau
  • Statistical analysis background
  • Familiarity with data governance frameworks, principles, and industry best practices
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • Strong change management and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide data governance and quality initiatives
  • Ability to communicate complex insights to non-technical stakeholders and executives
  • Experience managing and mentoring team of analysts
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently to lead both large and small team projects
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to tell compelling stories through data for diverse audiences
  • Ability to build strong relationships and work with people at all levels of the organization and with external partners
  • Knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, and metadata management
  • Demonstrated track record applying data analytics to inform strategy
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate within a geographically dispersed team
  • Strong, demonstrated commitment to LEE’s mission, core values, and theory of change

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced degree in analytics, statistics, or business
  • Familiarity with leadership development (experience developing or managing leadership trainings for adult learners)

Physical Requirements & Work Demands:

  • This position is primarily a sedentary role working with colleagues based around the country using remote technologies.
  • The person in this position may need to occasionally move about inside the office to liaise with staff or access office equipment.
  • The person in this position will need to have the ability to travel to in-person meetings in various U.S. cities.
  • Occasional evening and/or weekend work is required.

Responsibilities

Data Quality and Reporting (45%)

  • Lead the development and implementation of organization-wide data quality and governance practices that ensure accessible, reliable, and consistent data across systems
  • Use data storytelling to deliver actionable insights on org-wide performance and impact that informs leadership decision-making
  • Oversee the dashboard development and data tools (i.e., BigQuery, SQL, and Tableau) that inform strategic direction for Member Impact and cross-functional priority teams
  • Co-lead integration of insights across research, data, and strategy functions by co-facilitating a cross-functional Center of Excellence (CoE) focused on measurement, research, reporting, and data quality
  • Review and validate external reporting for funders, Board, and partners to ensure consistency and compliance

Data Insights and Analytics (35%)

  • Partner with the Chiefs of Staff to ensure the Member and Partnerships teams have access to data and insights to inform annual planning
  • Leverage member impact data and insights to help teams identify challenges and design targeted strategies to improve outcomes
  • Lead program evaluation strategy by partnering across functions to ensure high-quality, consistent measurement and data tools that support effective strategies, tactics, and decision-making
  • Lead the development of scalable systems and practices for member insight capabilities—standardize surveys, collect behavioral data, and surface trends to inform strategy

Team and Organizational Stewardship (10%)

  • Manage a high-performing team of data analysts who support a portfolio of teams and priorities in their data and analytic work, to ensure high quality production of dashboards, reports, and analysis
  • Guide cross-functional leaders to build tools, systems, and mindsets across the organization to ensure high quality data entry and collection
  • Provide facilitation and strategic guidance on high-priority initiatives

Special Projects (10%)

  • Lend leadership and strategic thought partnership, facilitation and/or other capacity to high-priority organizational initiatives and/or research projects, as needed
  • Other projects as assigned by the SVP, Member Impact
