Job Description:
This senior leadership role within the Vertex Global Professional Services (GPS) organization will lead and execute strategic e-Invoicing initiatives across Customer Success and Services. The role is critical in driving growth through the sale, delivery, and innovation of Vertex e-Invoicing software and service solutions. Success will be measured by maximizing software adoption, revenue, delivery excellence, and customer value.
The leader will serve as the enterprise e-Invoicing subject matter expert, collaborating closely with Practice Leadership, Customer Success, Partner Enablement, Sales, Alliances, and Product Management. This role will champion Vertex’s unique value proposition in e-Invoicing, shape solution strategy, and maintain a thought leadership position in this rapidly evolving domain.
Key Responsibilities

Thought Leadership in e-Invoicing

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for all e-Invoicing delivery teams, ensuring alignment with go-to-market and implementation strategies.
  • Maintain expert knowledge of global e-Invoicing regulations, frameworks, and standards, including CTC (Continuous Transaction Controls), PEPPOL, EDI, and country-specific compliance requirements.
  • Shape the evolution of Vertex’s e-Invoicing solutions by bringing an outside-in perspective on industry trends and customer needs.
  • Represent Vertex as an industry thought leader at events such as Vertex Exchange, partner summits, and executive forums.

Sales & Market Support

  • Partner with Sales and Alliances to position e-Invoicing solutions competitively in the market.
  • Develop implementation differentiators and pricing models to drive e-Invoicing adoption.
  • Own the GPS strategy for e-Invoicing, including pipeline, bookings, revenue targets, and capacity planning.

Delivery Excellence

  • Lead all e-Invoicing implementation programs to maximize customer value, satisfaction, and compliance success.
  • Serve as Executive Sponsor on major e-Invoicing projects, coaching teams and ensuring best-practice delivery.
  • Establish capacity and skills roadmaps, including training, certification tracking, and partner enablement for e-Invoicing specialists.
  • Implement a continuous improvement framework based on customer feedback and industry advancements.

Partner & Ecosystem Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with strategic partners, regulators, and industry influencers to expand Vertex’s footprint in e-Invoicing.
  • Guide partner readiness, enablement, and delivery quality for joint e-Invoicing projects.
  • Promote consistent methodologies across internal and partner-led implementations.

Other Leadership Responsibilities

  • Mentor and develop leadership talent within GPS to strengthen Vertex’s global e-Invoicing credentials.
  • Support recruiting and retention strategies to build a world-class services team.
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives to maintain high satisfaction and performance.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven expertise in global e-Invoicing standards, technologies, regulations, and compliance frameworks.
  • Executive presence with exceptional communication and influencing skills.
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to lead enterprise-level change.
  • Strong analytical, operational, and project management capabilities.
  • Deep knowledge of ERP/Tax software implementation life cycles, with in-depth familiarity with Vertex solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic, and international environments.

Education & Experience

  • 10+ years in the e-Invoicing / EDI domain with leadership of global compliance initiatives.
  • 15+ years in consulting, client services leadership, or related senior roles.
  • Experience managing large-scale, complex technology implementations.
  • Functional and technical understanding of finance systems and processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Location preference: Europe.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
