Summary: Queens University of Charlotte is seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial, and results-driven leader to serve as the Senior Director of the Executive Leadership Institute in the McColl School of Business. Accredited by AACSB International, the McColl School at Queens is widely recognized for its highly effective leadership development programs and enjoys tremendous support from the Charlotte and regional business community. The McColl School offers both undergraduate and graduate business education as well as executive education and leadership development programs.
The Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) within the McColl School exists to provide non-degree executive education, professional development, and leadership programming to its clients. Leveraging the talents of the McColl School faculty as well as ELI affiliate educators, the mission for ELI is to develop and deliver customized, impactful learning experiences which result in stronger leaders and more successful businesses.
The Senior Director of Leadership Programs in the McColl School of Business is responsible for envisioning, planning, and building the ELI. The position requires strong business development and sales skills, the ability to cultivate relationships both internally and externally, demonstrated leadership in a variety of settings, and highly developed interpersonal skills. The Senior Director reports to the Dean of the McColl School of Business, who reports to the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs. Direct reports to the Senior Director include the Director of the SELA program, the Assistant Director for ELI, and the ELI Program Coordinator.
This position is exempt from provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore is not eligible to earn overtime pay or compensatory time off for additional hours worked. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Provide a clear vision and plan for executive leadership development in the McColl School, specifically in the ELI.
  • Engage with the regional business community, establishing and maintaining appropriate external relations.
  • Develop and grow the client base for the Executive Leadership Institute programs, identifying and attracting prospects and retaining current clients, meeting or exceeding revenue goals for the program.
  • Enhance the McColl School’s leadership reputation locally, regionally, and nationally.
  • Build strong coalitions with internal and external constituents.
  • Attract master’s level students to McColl graduate business programs, supporting our goals to grow graduate enrollment.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff in the ELI with a consistent emphasis on excellence in customer service and client experience.
  • Manage budgets for effective prioritization of resources and strategic investment in program building and attracting new talent.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Master’s degree or higher in business, management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated management and leadership ability at the executive level.
  • Successful experience in or demonstrated capacity for attracting and closing new business.
  • Capacity for maintaining existing relationships with alumnae and regional employers.
  • An energetic and entrepreneurial spirit, with the ability to view obstacles as opportunities.
  • Skills and experience in strategic planning, fiscal planning, and resource management.
  • Proven ability to hire, train, develop, and lead high performing teams.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and managing diverse teams.
  • Passion for the educational mission of the university.
  • Exceptionally strong communication skills (verbal, written, interpersonal) and ability to quickly establish and maintain strong rapport at all levels of the University and externally.
  • Demonstrated organization and planning skills (strategic, short- and long-term); strong follow-up and follow-through skills to ensure completion of strategic plans, goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrated evidence of a flexible, energetic, creative, and results-oriented leadership style.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in a variety of settings.
