Job Description
The Senior Director, Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting will oversee all aspects of the company’s financial reporting, ensuring compliance with US GAAP accounting standards, SEC regulations and internal policies. This role also involves technical accounting research, implementing new accounting standards, and providing expert guidance on complex accounting issues. This position reports directly to the SVP, Corporate Controller and will be key accounting leader working cross-functionally across several teams including Legal, Finance, Tax, and Property Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting and technical accounting, preferably within the Real Estate Industry
  • A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is a plus
  • Familiarity with REIT structures and related compliance/reporting requirements a plus
  • Experience with multi-entity and multi-location operations.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual financial statements, including SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q), and ensuring compliance with SEC regulations and US GAAP.
  • Keep abreast of new accounting guidance and pronouncements, research complex transactions and provide guidance on technical accounting matters.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, regulations and internal controls, including SOX compliance.
  • Lead and develop team of financial reporting and technical accounting professionals, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives within the financial reporting and accounting functions.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard the company’s financial information
  • Serve as a primary liaison for internal and external audits, ensuring the accurate and timely submission of audit documentation and responses.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, Tax, Treasury, and Property Operations teams to ensure alignment and integrity of financial reporting.
