Job Description We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Director Accounting to join our team! Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the selected candidate will be responsible for leading a team to execute various activities within the Accounting Function. Acting as a strategic member of the Accounting leadership team, this role will be responsible for activities related to reporting, liaising with FP&A, project management, accounting for complex transactions, and planning. Oversight of all reporting, complex accounting transactions, reconciliations, and planning. Apply knowledge of GAAP and SOX compliance to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality reporting and analysis. Ability to analyze and understand complex transactions, apply complex accounting standards to those transactions, and effectively communicate the results to the stakeholders. Responsibility for portions of monthly and quarterly reporting including cash flows, flux analyses, and GAAP and non-GAAP reconciliations. Coordination of internal management reviews of documents to ensure that all feedback is assimilated into submitted documents and disclosures. Work closely with FP&A to develop budgets, track forecasts and provide cohesive flux explanations prepared for CFO flux meeting. Critically evaluate accounting processes and procedures, provide recommendations for efficiencies, and lead team in formalizing related documentation. Provide project management oversight of various process improvement initiatives. Identify opportunities for process automation when possible. Collaborate effectively with internal clients, including FP&A, Property Operations, Corporate Tax, Investor Relations, Internal Audit, and others. Enable the alignment of business strategies, resources and capabilities in order to deliver optimal solutions to support the business. Collaborate with finance and operations on a daily basis to ensure processes and team members are working in lock step for all transactions. Responsible for ensuring transactions are planned and executed appropriately from an accounting and business perceptive, including contract drafting to ensuring the transaction is appropriately reflected in public filings, including directing all inputs and functions involved. Provides guidance to leadership on financial related matters and decisions. Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with the business SME’s to leverage their knowledge and expertise to facilitate improved business processes in order to drive optimization and simplification in accordance with stakeholder requirements. Collaborate with business SME’s to deliver innovative and automated solutions for complex accounting transactions. Directs the implementation of accounting best practices relative to design, configuration and implementation. Oversees policy and procedures to ensure structure and appropriate roll-out. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and hold a CPA. 10+ years of experience with complex accounting including GAAP. Proven success with managing a large team of finance accounting professionals through ambiguity while still driving results. Prior experiencing working in Real Estate or Public Accounting (Big 4) industries. Confident communicator with the level of maturity and presence necessary to influence senior executives and business leaders. Thrives on driving innovation and change that will propel the business forward. Consistently practices strategic thinking and nimble problem-solving tactics to stay ahead of business priorities. Ability and proof of leading team and projects successfully. Technical Accounting experience. Ability to work cross functionally, especially with operations and finance to communicate goals and deliverables and ensure that all steps in a project are addressed. Complex accounting principles and procedures and their application to a variety of accounting transactions and problems. Principles, methods, and procedures of governmental accounting, budgeting, and financial management. Elements of accounting controls and internal control structures and their application to government accounting functions.
