BECOME A PART OF OUR STORY.

We’re looking for exceptional talent to join our mission. We offer a chance to create impact in a high-energy and connected culture, while benefiting from continuous learning opportunities, a supportive community which is proud to serve our mission, and comprehensive benefits.

YOUR MISSION

We are seeking a highly driven, strategic, and operational finance leader to join our team as Senior Director of Accounting and Controllership.
This critical role serves as the right hand to the Chief Accounting Officer, providing leadership across global controllership operations and ensuring excellence in financial reporting, controls, and service delivery. This role will provide pivotal inputs to drive financial transformation, ensuring a robust SOX-style control environment, and building strong business partnerships across functions and geographies.
Based in London, the successful candidate must be open and able to work abroad in Portugal, engaging closely with international teams and the Business Support Centre hub. The role has end-to-end accountability for Financial Operations, including the global financial close, local statutory and regulatory reporting, and a broad Business support centre scope that covers Accounting Services and People Services.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Senior finance professional with 10+ years of experience in controllership and finance operations roles in complex multinational environments.
  • Demonstrated success in leading finance transformation initiatives, including automation and global process redesign.
  • Proven track record of managing and scaling Business support centre (accounting, people services).
  • Deep technical knowledge of IFRS and demonstrated experience managing SOX-style internal controls.
  • Strong understanding of finance systems architecture and data governance in an enterprise environment.
  • Outstanding leadership and communication skills – engaging, proactive, and credible with senior stakeholders across regions and cultures.
  • Confident managing teams across time zones and geographies; experience with offshore delivery models is essential.
  • Professionally qualified accountant (CPA, CA, ACA or equivalent); MBA a plus.
  • Willing and able to work abroad in Portugal as needed, with travel to international hubs.
Responsibilities
  • Act as the most senior member of the CAO’s team, providing continuity, leadership, and support across the global controllership function.
  • Lead the strategy and execution of global controllership operations, including financial close, monthly reporting, and compliance with international accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, US GAAP).
  • Partner with external auditors to deliver group and statutory audits in accordance with Group timetable whilst reducing costs
  • Oversee Accounting outsourcing arrangements as required
  • Oversee a multi-functional Business support centre organisation, with responsibility for:
  • Accounting services (AP and AR, GL, treasury operations reconciliations)
  • People services (payroll accounting, employee cost allocations, HR-finance interfaces)
  • Operational excellence within the Business support centre through robust KPI and SLA frameworks, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Maintain and enhance a strong internal control environment, aligned with SOX principles, including ownership of key controls and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Champion state of the art finance transformation driving automation and continuous improvement —streamlining processes, supporting the implementation of modern accounting and control tools, and optimizing the finance operating model.
  • Drive close governance globally, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-controlled period-end processes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (FP&A, Treasury, People team and other CAO team members) and external partners to ensure high-quality service delivery and compliance.
  • Provide coaching and leadership to a geographically dispersed team, promoting engagement, accountability, and high performance.
  • Serve as a visible, engaging, and proactive leader, capable of influencing across senior levels and building strong cross-functional relationships.
