Job Summary The Senior Director of Business Development is responsible for setting and executing the enterprise-level strategy for third-party construction growth within the multifamily housing sector. This role provides leadership, direction, and oversight to a team of Directors of Business Development while personally managing select strategic relationships and pursuits. The Senior Director ensures alignment between market opportunities, organizational capacity, and long-term business objectives across Roers Companies’ established geographies, including Arizona, Minnesota, Florida, and Texas. This role requires a seasoned leader with deep construction industry expertise, a strong executive presence, and the ability to scale business development efforts through people, process, and disciplined execution. The Senior Director represents Roers Companies as a senior ambassador in the marketplace and partners closely with construction, operations, finance, and executive leadership to drive sustainable and profitable growth. Responsibilities Develop and lead the overall third-party construction business development strategy, ensuring alignment with company growth objectives, capacity, and geographic priorities Directly manage, coach, and develop a team of Directors of Business Development, setting clear performance expectations, goals, and accountability measures Establish consistent business development processes, pipeline management standards, and reporting cadences across the team Personally cultivate and maintain executive-level relationships with key developers, owners, and strategic partners Provide oversight and guidance on major pursuits, proposals, and negotiations, including go/no-go decisions for high-impact opportunities Collaborate with preconstruction, estimating, and operations leadership to ensure pursuits are competitively positioned, operationally feasible, and financially sound Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and client feedback to inform pricing strategies, service offerings, and geographic expansion decisions Represent Roers Companies at high-level industry events, conferences, and forums to enhance brand reputation and market presence Ensure effective transition of awarded projects from business development to operations, reinforcing accountability and client satisfaction Partner with executive leadership to forecast revenue, assess backlog health, and inform long-term strategic planning Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, business, or a related field required Master’s degree or equivalent advanced education preferred Experience: 12+ years of progressive experience in business development, client leadership, or related roles within the commercial construction industry; multifamily housing experience strongly preferred Demonstrated success leading and scaling business development teams in a general contracting or construction services environment Extensive executive-level network of developer, owner, and industry relationships within one or more of the following regions: AZ, MN, FL, TX Proven track record of securing large, complex, and profitable third-party construction contracts Skills/Abilities: Deep understanding of the general contracting business model, including preconstruction, estimating, risk management, and project delivery Strong people leadership skills, including coaching, performance management, and talent development Strategic thinker with the ability to translate market insights into actionable growth plans Exceptional negotiation, presentation, and executive communication skills High degree of business acumen, judgment, and professional credibility Travel Requirements: Frequent travel within assigned markets is expected, with occasional travel to industry conferences Compensation and Benefits for Senior Director of Business Development: Pay Range: $133,665 - $179,400 Compensation is determined by several factors that vary depending on the position, including the individual’s experience, skills, and the knowledge they bring to the specific role Roers offers a comprehensive benefits & perks package to full-time employees which may include: • Health Plans - Medical, dental, vision, FSA, and HSA • Family Leave - Paid birth & bonding leave • Employer Paid Benefits - Basic life insurance, Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), and short-term disability • Additional Voluntary Benefits – Life Insurance, AD&D, long-term disability, critical illness, and accident insurance • 401(K) - 3% company contribution, 100% vested after 2 years of employment • Competitive PTO - 3 weeks of PTO with immediate accrual, 9 paid holidays, 1 floating holiday, and bereavement • Health and Wellness - fitness membership reimbursement program • Free stays in Roers’ properties guest suites • Rent Discount - 20% discount for employees living in Roers Companies properties • Employee Referral Bonus Program - $2,500 referral bonus paid once referred candidate completes 60 days of employment • Charitable Match Program – Roers matches employee donations to charitable organizations • Professional Development Opportunities • Employee Assistance Programs Roers Companies is focused on building a workforce that is diverse and inclusive.
