Overview The Director of Development will work collaboratively and strategically with the Executive Director of Development to build and sustain a comprehensive major gifts program supporting UF Health and the UF College of Medicine. This leader will oversee a team of two gift officers and play a key role in advancing philanthropic initiatives that align with the institution’s mission and priorities. The Director will focus on cultivating a culture of giving among alumni, grateful patients, faculty, and friends of UF Health, and requires a relationship-driven professional who can connect passion with purpose to strengthen UF Health’s impact in patient care, education, and research. Responsibilities Partner with the Executive Director of Development to design, implement, and evaluate strategies for a robust major gifts program. Manage and mentor a team of two gift officers to achieve annual and long-term fundraising goals. Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects, including alumni, grateful patients, faculty, and community partners. Develop and execute strategies to grow grateful patient and alumni giving, supporting key departments within the College of Medicine. Collaborate with internal partners, physicians, and academic leaders to align fundraising priorities with institutional needs. Ensure thoughtful stewardship and recognition of donors through meaningful engagement and impact reporting. Contribute to the broader advancement initiatives of UF Health through strategic participation in campaigns and special projects. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and five years of experience in Development or a related field. The Ideal candidate will have the following: • Three to five years of major gift fundraising experience with documented success in cultivating and soliciting major gifts from individual and corporate prospects. • Prior experience in a college or university setting, enthusiasm for fundraising in a comprehensive research university, and the desire to work collegially within a goal-oriented fundraising organization. • Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, HIPAA and CASE standards. • The ability to work strategically, develop and implement constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers. • Must be an outstanding communicator and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; interpersonal skills; and the ability to work collegially and interact effectively with a diverse constituency.
