Description

The Senior Director of Family Services is a senior management position which is responsible for the supervision of programmatic positions. The individual in this role is a seasoned leader, values and works well with teams, and is comfortable with change and the need to innovate. This role oversees and provides final approval for program-level decisions; ensures that programs are delivered in a manner that is compliant and effective; and responds to crises. In addition, the Senior Director drives alignment with strategic planning, monitors and approves program budgets, and ensures best practice in data collection and CQI tracking.
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time/Exempt (Salaried)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Master’s Degree in Social Work or Human Services and a minimum of one year conducting case management activities at a CPA or as a DFPS Caseworker
OR
Master’s Degree in another field (with at least nine credit hours in relevant coursework) and a minimum of two years conducting case management activities at a CPA or as a DFPS Caseworker
OR
Bachelor’s Degree (with at least nine credit hours in relevant coursework) and a minimum of three years conducting case management activities at a CPA or as a DFPS Caseworker
SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE: Five years of supervisory experience
REMOTE ELIGIBILITY: This position is expected to be in office or in client locations no less than four days per week. When applicable, remote work may be engaged in up to one day per week. Remote work may begin after 90 days of employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid Texas Driver’s License held for at least two years
  • TB Screening
  • This position requires frequent availability on evenings, weekends, and outside of typical of business hours
  • Licensed Child Placing Administrator (or the ability to obtain) beneficial

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Understanding and empathy for the clients served; working knowledge in the field of childhood trauma
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in developing and leading programs and teams
  • Skill in collaboration with individuals within and outside of the agency to deliver agency services
  • Excellent communication skills verbal and written; comfort in public speaking/presentation
  • Ability to work with high degree of independence, initiative, and flexibility
  • Working knowledge of Minimum Standards and DFPS Standards
  • Familiarity with TBRI preferred
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills; proficiency in implementing strategic goals at the program level
  • Proficient in guiding others in data analysis and data collection at the program level
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of or the ability to learn database management

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The position entails exerting up to 10 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The position entails occasionally lifting/moving up to 40 pounds. The position involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking, standing, and/or climbing stairs for periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee must use oral communication with clients; use auditory skills to assess and respond to clients. The employee must be able to maintain his or her emotional regulation in response to a client’s potential outbursts or emotional distress. The employee must complete documentation on paper and electronically.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise program staff including: o Director of Family Services
  • Director of Neighborhood oDirector of Compliance
  • Program o Provides oversight to all facets of service delivery to ensure optimal services are provided to clients and that Licensing Minimum Standards; DFPS Standards; and agency policies are adhered to
  • Gives final approval to all admissions, discharges, changes of placement, and opening/closing of homes oProvides emergency response and/or crisis management by supporting/coaching supervisees; responding to emergencies; and by ensuring adequate on-call coverage
  • Supervises the child placement activities of case management staff in the absence of the Director of Family Services and/or conducts child placement activities in the absence of both the Director and case management staff oResponsible for the creation/maintenance of a comprehensive Program Handbook including processes and procedures; once developed institutes strategies to ensure implementation of processes and procedures
  • Represents the agency in court hearings pertaining to children in placement; coordinate all legal proceedings with parents, attorneys, courts, and any other interested parties
  • Compliance o Guides development and implementation of agencywide policies that comply with Licensing Minimum Standards and DFPS Standards
  • Verifies that agency record keeping processes are compliant with standards
  • Quality Assurance o Develops, implements, and supervises the reporting of goals, outcomes, and CQI measures and ensures best practices in data collection methods
  • Strategic Planning o Develop and implement programmatic changes to improve program effectiveness and respond to evolving client needs
  • Financial Oversight o Manages budgets, reviews expenses, and ensures financial accountability
  • Other o Participates and/or leads public speaking engagements, agency tours, and other promotional activities as needed
