JOB SUMMARY

GeneDx, the world’s leading genomics diagnostics company, is seeking a Head of Scalable Genetics to reimagine the clinical information gathering, interpretation, and reporting processes that drive our rare disease testing products. The individual in this role will be charged with increasing the quality, reproducibility, and scalability of whole exome and whole genome clinical reporting processes.
You will bring your expertise in current best practices for reporting workflow processes, people, and tools.
The goal is to design and implement a fully automated reporting workflow at GeneDx that reduces human intervention, delays in processing handoffs, and subjectivity while still delivering best in class quality and customer experience.
As the Head of Scalable Genetics, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of product leads, data scientists, and engineers. Together and in partnership with Operations leaders, you will conceive, build, train, and deploy a suite of modular tools that combine to deliver a fully automated interpretation workflow.

EDUCATION/TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced professional degree (PhD, MD, or MS) in clinical or related technical field preferred

  • 8-12 years of professional experience required
  • 2+ Years of Leadership Experience in a Team Environment
Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES

  • Deep experience in a high-volume CLIA/CAP clinical reporting environment, accelerated by efficient and high-quality software tools.
  • Demonstrated understanding of human clinical genetics, the state of the industry, and strong opinions about how to scale reporting to serve more patients.
  • Experience and understanding of the hard-to-do components of the human genome (eg. repetitive / mobile elements, pseudogenes, low complexity regions). Experience with the molecular and bioinformatic techniques necessary to call variation and report from these regions.
  • Conceptual mastery of machine learning and other AI applications, and these tools have been used to accelerate complex human-centric processes.
  • Demonstrated management of a team specifying the development of software products.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence and drive change cross-functionally.
  • Design and implement a suite of tools that filter, apply evidence, recommend confirmation, write/place report text, and facilitate efficient medical director sign out.
  • Work with other product and technical leaders in the organization to leverage existing GeneDx platform technologies where possible, in combination with novel computational approaches when appropriate.
