REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Educational Level:
    Master’s degree required.
  2. Certification/License:
    GA School Nutrition Director Certification (or proof of a provisional certificate and ability to obtain certification within 18 months of hire)
    Valid Driver’s License & Evidence of Insurability
  3. Experience:
    Job related experience within a specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required.

Responsibilities

1.
Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
2.
Collaborates with Construction, Plant Services, and Risk Management for the purpose of creating, implementing, and monitoring safe operational working conditions in all district owned kitchens.
3.
Collaborates with internal and external personnel (e.g., other administrators, auditors, public agencies, community members, etc.) for the purpose of implementing and/or maintaining an efficient nutrition program, wellness programs, and other similar initiatives.
4.
Creates and monitors the School Nutrition Department budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances and related financial activities. Responsible for ensuring all budgets and allocations are accurate, revenues are properly recorded, expenses are within budgeted limits and all district, state, and federal fiscal practices are followed.
5.
Develops KPI’s and implements processes to meet them which reflect industry standards and norms for the purpose of ensuring effective and efficient processes are used within the School Nutrition department to meet district goals and objectives.
6.
Develops capital plans which reflect current and future needs for the purpose of ensuring the district has the proper kitchen infrastructure to meet goals and objectives.
7.
Develops and implements standards for efficient, sanitary and nutritious food service for the purpose of ensuring quality meals are provided through the School Nutrition program which meet all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
8.
Develops and maintains a plan to replace equipment, tools, and vehicles for the purpose of sustaining workforce efficiency and optimum productivity.
9.
Develops plans for the workforce to ensure all School Nutrition personnel receive specialized training for the purpose of ensuring a properly trained staff that meets the needs of the district and is in alignment with current industry best practices meeting all applicable guidelines and regulations.
10.
Directs the department operations: maintaining existing processes and the implementation of new programs and/or processes as needed for the purpose of providing services within established goals and in compliance with related requirements and industry best practices.
11.
Ensures procedures are in place to meet the needs of all student dietary restrictions for the purpose of protecting the health and safety of students eating within the school nutrition program.
12.
Facilitates meetings and workshops, etc. for the purpose of identifying issues, developing recommendations, supporting staff, and serving as a district representative.
13.
Manages the procurement process (goods and services) for School Nutrition for the purpose of ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations while following industry best practices.
14.
Monitors staff equipment, supplies, and PPE to maximize safety, efficiency, and effectiveness for the purpose of meeting industry best practices.
15.
Monitors the work product of staff and vendors to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations as well as industry best practices for the purpose of protecting and keeping the district compliant.
16.
Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
17.
Prepares a wide variety of written materials (e.g., interviewing, hiring, supervising, evaluating, corrective actions, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate and effective staffing within the School Nutrition Department, enhancing productivity of personnel, and achieving objectives within budget.
18.
Presents information for the purpose of communicating information, gaining feedback and ensuring adherence to established internal controls.
19.
Regularly visits schools and kitchens to develop relationships with stakeholders for the purpose of ensuring department goals are met within all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
20.
Researches new products, laws, regulations, etc. for the purpose of recommending procedure changes, purchases, contracts and maintaining district wide services.
21.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work units.
