Primary objective
Provide quality strategic leadership, direction and advice to the Executive Director (ED) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO),
including driving legislative reform and policy development and providing infrastructure, project and resource management support
to ensure the successful delivery of the Division and Agency’s strategic priorities.
Context statement
The Branch is accountable for the delivery of the Division’s business, financial, human resource, legal, policy, planning,
infrastructure programs and land administration functions across the NT with a strong focus on continual evidence-based business
improvement through the provision of governance services, the development of continuous improvement frameworks, policies
and standards, best practice business management and quality assurance.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide timely, high quality strategic, operational and practical advice, reports and recommendations to the ED, CEO and
NTG on the Parks and Wildlife Division’s day to day business, infrastructure / works programs and strategic and business
planning.
2. Oversee the management of the human, financial, technological and infrastructure resources and provide strong,
effective day to day leadership and management to a multi-disciplinary dispersed team of staff.
3. Oversee and manage the development of innovative and cost effective policies, strategies, projects and infrastructure
development programs, the Division’s legislative reform agenda and the implementation of systems and technology to
enhance the Division’s functionality and advance organisational effectiveness within the Division and agency.
4. Develop and maintain effective collaborative partnerships and high-level strategic alliances with central government
agencies and key stakeholders at local and national levels.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven high-level collaboration, written and oral communication skills, ability to influence and engage effectively across
cultures, establish and build constructive relationships, strategic partnerships and alliances and manage stakeholders
through effective negotiation, persuasion and guidance.
2. High level project design, development, implementation and management skills, strong leadership skills and the proven
ability to effectively manage human and financial resources to consistently deliver high quality outcomes in an
environment of change and competing demands.
3. Demonstrated broad strategic perspective and proven experience in shaping strategic direction and driving action
through a culture of collaboration, innovation and accountability.
4. Demonstrated business acumen, integrity and credibility reinforced by highly developed political and policy awareness
and the ability to anticipate future consequences and trends accurately.
5. Demonstrated experience as a senior executive, providing advice and support on complex issues, strategic and business
planning, governance and change management.
6. Well-developed and contemporary knowledge of the issues, initiatives and developments currently impacting park,
wildlife and heritage management in the NT, or proven ability to acquire and apply such knowledge quickly.
7. NTG Well-developed policy development knowledge and of legislative contemporary reform.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as economics, management, public policy or public administration,
corporate governance, risk management, land use planning or another field relative to the role
