The Global Data Loss Prevention team, an integral part of the larger Global Cybersecurity Operations team, is dedicated to safeguarding critical and sensitive information at Manulife. The Senior DLP Security Engineer plays a key role in developing, implementing, and leading data loss prevention strategies to protect sensitive data from accidental or intentional exposure. This position requires collaboration with various teams to ensure compliance with data protection regulations and to protect the organization’s data assets.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT-related field or equivalent military or OTJ experience. At least 7 years of relevant technical experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in cyber security
  • At least 2 years of experience working in an agile delivery team
  • Deep technical knowledge and hands-on experience with leading DLP platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Defender, Symantec DLP, McAfee DLP, or Forcepoint DLP
  • In-depth knowledge of DLP concepts, methodologies, and tools, including content analysis, data classification, and network and endpoint DLP solutions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with scripting (e.g., Python, Perl, Powershell, etc.) for automation and integration
  • Validated foundation in database management and query methodologies
  • Familiarity with network protocols, cloud and endpoint security technologies, and data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA, ISO 27001)
  • Proficient in configuring DLP policies, rules, and alerts to implement data protection policies and prevent data loss
  • Experience with data discovery and classification tools to identify sensitive data and define appropriate protection measures
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address DLP risks and incidents efficiently
  • Good communication and collaboration skills to work efficiently with globally distributed multi-functional teams and partners
  • Ability to work independently, lead multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Responsibilities
  • Implement, and maintain Data Loss Prevention (DLP) solutions to safeguard sensitive data from unauthorized disclosure, loss, or leakage
  • Configure and deploy DLP policies, rules, and alerts across DLP platforms
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams, including IT, Legal, and Compliance, to ensure DLP strategies align with regulatory requirements and industry standards
  • Conduct data discovery and classification exercises to identify and categorize sensitive data across the organization
  • Integrate DLP solutions with existing security infrastructure, including firewalls, proxies, and endpoint protection systems
  • Stay ahead with the latest trends and developments in DLP technologies, data protection regulations, and industry standard processes
  • Develop DLP configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides for reference and future use
