SUMMARY

Are you a knowledgeable and detail-oriented documentation professional with demonstrated expertise in Canadian and U.S. trade compliance? Do you have a strong background in export and import documentation and the ability to interpret complex regulations with precision and confidence?
Canaan Group is seeking a Senior Documentation Lead to help launch our newly created Fractional AI Documentation Division—an initiative focused on transforming how export-import paperwork is produced, verified, and shared. In this role, you will play a key part in designing clear, repeatable workflows that simplify regulatory requirements and support automation. You bring a continuous improvement mindset, a collaborative approach, and a keen interest in using emerging technologies to enhance accuracy and efficiency across documentation processes.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of experience in B2B logistics, with at least 3 years focused on hands-on export/import documentation
  • Demonstrated ability to create and optimize SOPs
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. compliance requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Nice-to-Have:
  • CITT, supply-chain, or business diploma/degree
  • Entrepreneurial spark—comfortable launching new services.
  • Proven relationship-builder who hits ambitious goals

    Pay: $26.00-$30.00 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end documentation for export and import shipments, including Bills of Lading, CERS/AES, e-manifests, ISF, AMS, Commercial Invoices, and Certificates of Origin
  • Ensure full compliance with Canadian and U.S. trade regulations
  • Design, document, and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve speed, accuracy, and consistency
  • Pilot, test, and scale our new fractional-AI tooling alongside the Project Cargo & Systems Manager
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and performance management to a small documentation team
  • Serve as the primary documentation liaison between operations teams and clients, ensuring documentation meets expectations and timelines
  • Monitor changes in trade compliance and adjust internal procedures accordingly.
