EDUCATION:

Diploma from a technical institute in drafting technology including CAD courses.

EXPERIENCES:

Requires 3 years of relevant drafting experience in a CAD environment with electronics, architectural and civil engineering requirements, including some graphic art experience. Plus, up to 1 year on the job to become familiar with the company’s drafting requirements, computer assisted drafting techniques and the company’s graphic arts standards and requirements.

Responsibilities

OVERALL PURPOSE:

The Sr. Draftsperson specific areas of responsibility include the coordinating of workload while providing guidance in the reviewing, and revising, related to technical drawings. Provide recommendations on improvements such as control management from rough sketches or instructions, involving mechanical, electrical, electronics, architectural and civil disciplines, including, but not limited to: fabrication and installation drawings, cross sections, three dimensional sketches, component layout diagrams, maps, and wiring schematics. Provides mentoring/guidance on all aspects of Drafting job-related duties.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides insight and mentoring to the drafts people in the development and design drawings according to engineering sketches and proposal specifications, while adhering to the BCRTC Drafting Standards.
Supports the Drafts people in the digitization, edits, and revising of engineering drawing components, parts, circuits, structures and/or assemblies. Makes and approves engineering computations, mathematical calculations, determines scales, and prepares or revises specifications.
Provides guidance to the Drafts people in the creation, modifications, storing of CAD and related files.
Ensures the Drafts people are adhering to the standards necessary to maintain our business certifications and to maintain good quality standards and practices associated with them.
Supports the Drafts people to ensure they liaise with the Technical Library staff, providing guidance on what drawings supersede identified on project infrastructures.
Provides support on the review of red-lined drawings provided by Capital projects as well as oversees the revision of existing drawings to reflect changes, modifications, and as-built status.
Provides guidance to the Drafts people on the exchange of drawing information from other divisions of TransLink or project consultants, prepares drawings with other divisions as required, through a clear communication, both verbal and written.
Oversees the updates of the in-house document numbering system for both Wayside and Vehicles with Engineering and Maintenance.
Performs related duties as assigned, such being items of a minor nature which do not affect the value of the job.
