Parts of Victoria are experiencing some of the driest conditions on record. To help the Victorian Government’s drought response planning we’re looking for a Senior Drought and Dry Conditions Coordinator to lead Water and Catchments Group’s input into this critical work. This role will suit someone with strong project management and co-ordination skills and experience working collaboratively with stakeholders and the community.

In this role you will:

  • Coordinate strategic policy for drying conditions and drought preparedness in Victoria in conjunction with relevant policy leads across the Water and Catchments Group related to drought preparedness and drying conditions.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of Victoria’s response options to drying conditions.
  • Provide leadership in collaborating with Water Corporations and Catchment Management Authorities to ensure a coordinated Victorian approach.
  • Work with agencies and community to understand on-ground conditions and help form short-term and long-term policy responses.

Your skills in critical thinking and problem solving, and working collaboratively will be important as you work with staff across the water sector and other parts of DEECA to consult and inform the Water and Catchments Group Executive on preparedness for and response to drying conditions.

SPECIALIST/TECHNICAL EXPERTISE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • An appropriate qualification in engineering, science, natural resource management or an approved equivalent is highly desired.
  • A current Victorian Driver’s License is required.
  • Knowledge of the Victorian water sector water management and planning arrangements would be beneficial.
