Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are currently seeking a Senior level Ecologist to take a role in supporting the Ecology practice across the Queensland region. You will benefit from being part of a national Ecology and Environmental Services team that has industry experts across Terrestrial, Marine and Aquatic Ecology and a range of exciting projects across the Asia Pacific Region.
The role can be based in either our Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast offices. We offer flexible work arrangements such as work from home, staggered hours and other flexibility options. DAY TO DAY TASKS WOULD INVOLVE:

  • Delivery of technical reports for clients and participating in proposal and tender production
  • Establish and drive a culture of efficient and effective delivery of all projects within Ecology
  • End-to-end management and delivery of projects, taking accountability for overall time, cost, and quality of delivery
  • Building and maintaining client relationships on allocated projects and new opportunities
  • Promote a culture of high performance, delivery and continuous improvement and mentor and coach more junior team members
  • Support the Team Leader and others across the company on business development opportunities and pursuits
  • Provide input to strategic planning and implementation of initiatives within the business unit

TO BE SUCCESSFUL FOR THIS ROLE YOU’LL NEED:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science and/or Ecology
  • Minimum of 5 years’ post graduate Ecology experience, ideally within a consulting, construction, or regulatory environment
  • Being a ‘suitably qualified person’ for protected plant surveys is highly regarded
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant standards and legislation applicable to Queensland
  • Knowledge and skills in fauna identification, and survey methodologies highly regarded
  • Knowledge and skills in aquatic environments highly regarded
  • Ability to lead and manage projects and teams to ensure work output is delivered on time and to budget
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, broad communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and encourage collaboration
  • Commitment to self-improvement and continuing professional development
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to seek out new business development opportunities
