Job Title: Senior Ecologist
Salary: 35,000 to 40,000
Based: Dinnington, South Yorkshire
About Estrada Ecology: Estrada Ecology was formed in 2007 and currently employs a small close-knit team of ecologists, working predominantly within the north of England, we work closely with a vast array of clients, ranging from independent developers to large scale companies, conducting all types of ecological projects as required.
Job Roles: Due to increased workload as a leading ecological consultancy, we are seeking to recruit a Senior Ecologist to join our team to support the delivery of the projects predominantly within Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and surrounding counties.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering the extensive protected species survey requirements, drafting Ecological Impact Assessments and protected species licence applications.

You will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking environmental surveys and site visits and contribute to the environmental impact assessment of schemes, including the recommendation, design and implementation of appropriate mitigation.
  • Provide advice and guidance to meet technical and project requirements.
  • Mentor junior team members.
  • Prepare and review technical reports in line with all relevant legislation, technical standards and guidance.
  • Liaise with statutory bodies including the Environment Agency, Natural England and Local Authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental legislation and company policy.
  • Lead environmental design projects from feasibility through to design, including Biodiversity.
  • Project administration, including monitoring programme delivery, resources and budgets.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/SKILLS:

· Minimum 5 years of consultancy experience
· At least one protected species class licence. Preferable to have GCN Class 1 and Bat Class 2.
· EPS Mitigation license application experience
· Knowledge and practical experience of Biodiversity Net Gain
· Full Driving licence
· Full CIEEM Membership (either associate or full)
· Experience of working with protected species within the UK
· Protected species survey experience
· Excellent report writing skills with the ability to draft and critically review ecological reports including Preliminary Ecological Appraisal, Ecological Impact Assessments, Preliminary Roost Assessments, Method Statements, and Biodiversity Net Gain Metrics along with Phase 2 reports
