Contract type:
Permanent Full Time
Location:
Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire
Grade:
Senior Edu Psychologists (3-5)
Salary:
The Carmarthenshire Educational and Child Psychology service (ECPS) is well-embedded within wider Education and Children’s Services and there are good relationships with our colleagues in other teams. Our values are inclusion, person-centred practice and equity of provision.
The ECPS is growing, from a strong base. We are an experienced team, with new colleagues and an ambitious vision for a creative team that provides opportunities for continuous professional development and an excellent service for our clients. We provide you with flexible, agile working arrangements and good ICT facilities. The team is well regarded by our service users and we have positive relations with our settings and schools. We follow a consultation model of service delivery and supervision is provided by Senior ECPs as well as through peer supervision arrangements. We have valued Assistant Educational Psychologists, who support the ECPs in their roles, e.g., with Early Years Preschool work.
TEP colleagues join the team annually and we have a close and fruitful working relationship with the ECP Course at Cardiff University, which is one way that we keep in touch with current developments in the profession. There are also constructive relations with the AEP and NAPEP Cymru/Wales.
The successful candidate will be an experienced ECP who is keen to progress professionally into a more senior role. We want someone who has an interest in developing the Service more generally but also someone who has a passion for Early Years and Early Intervention. In addition to a patch of schools, you will be supported to work strategically across the Local Authority as well as link with colleagues in the local health board and the wider community.
You will be able to develop your professional interests, within a friendly and supportive team, in the context of service needs and priorities. Statutory assessments are contained and managed, in the new ALN system, so that ECPs can do other work, such as developing projects and training options. Examples of these are EBSA, ELSA, Trauma Informed Schools, Flying Start preschool work, Adoption support and social care consultation and other development projects.
The Carmarthenshire Educational and Child Psychology Service seek to apply the psychology of how people learn, behave, think and feel to facilitate positive change, which will support all our children and young people in reaching their potential. There are meeting rooms and touchdown spaces across the county, so that you will always be near an office where you can work, wherever you are. You will have access to the generous Carmarthenshire Reward Scheme and the Bike to Work scheme, should you wish to access it.
The salary range is the Soulbury B-scale (points 3-5), with previous SPA points acknowledged.
If you are not a fluent Welsh speaker, we will support you to learn the language.
