Responsibilities

Are you keen to learn/develop new skills within the field of vision support and make a real difference?
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work as part of the Laxey School and Vision Support Service (VSS) teams as a Senior Education Support Officer, providing tailored support to a pupil with a vision impairment. You will be supporting the pupil’s academic, social, and emotional development, ensuring their full inclusion within the school environment, and fostering independence.
Working closely with parents and colleagues alike, you will liaise between school and VSS, preparing materials and modifying resources so as to overcome visual barriers to learning, as well as supervising on visits and out of school activities. Joining a supportive and friendly team, you will have the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills within this specialised area, with specifically allocated time and full training in the use of specialised ICT. Your enthusiasm and empathy will be crucial when working across key stages and supporting transition.
If this sounds like a role you would enjoy and if you would like to find out more, we would love to hear from you!
