Job Description A Senior Electrical Design Engineer (MEP) shall lead the Detailed Design projects, coordination, and delivery of electrical systems for building projects such as commercial complexes, hospitals, data centres, residential towers, airports, and industrial facilities. The role combines technical expertise, project leadership, client coordination, and compliance with international codes and standards. Key Responsibilities 1. Electrical System Design Lead the design of LV & MV power distribution systems Design of transformers, switchgear, MCCs, panel boards Electrical load calculations and demand analysis Short circuit, voltage drop, and protection coordination studies UPS systems, generators, and backup power solutions Earthing & lightning protection systems 2. Lighting & Small Power Systems Interior and exterior lighting design (lux level calculations) Emergency lighting systems Small power layouts and socket distribution Energy-efficient lighting solutions (LED, smart controls) 4. Technical Documentation Preparation of: Single Line Diagrams (SLD) Load schedules Panel schedules Cable sizing calculations BOQ (Bill of Quantities) Technical specifications Review of shop drawings and material submittals 5. Coordination & Project Management Coordinate with Mechanical, Plumbing, Civil, and Architectural teams Attend client and consultant meetings Ensure compliance with local & international codes (IEC, NEC, NFPA, BS, local authority regulations) Provide technical support during construction and site inspections 6. Leadership & Mentoring Guide junior engineers and draftsmen Review design outputs for accuracy and quality Ensure project delivery within timelines and budget Qualifications **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications:** Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech.) or Master's degree (M.Tech.) from a recognised institution Minimum 10 years of professional experience in electrical design for building services and MEP projects Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, DIALux, or equivalent tools Strong knowledge of international electrical codes and standards (IEC, NEC, NFPA, BS 7909, and local authority regulations) Demonstrated expertise in LV and MV power distribution system design, including transformers, switchgear, and protection coordination Competency in electrical load calculations, short circuit studies, voltage drop analysis, and demand forecasting Experience in designing UPS systems, generators, and backup power solutions **Preferred Qualifications:** Professional Engineering qualification (PE/PEng) or equivalent professional registration Experience with Building Information Modelling (BIM) and coordination platforms Knowledge of energy-efficient design principles and sustainable building practices Proven experience designing electrical systems for specialised facilities such as data centres, hospitals, or airports Demonstrated project management capabilities and strong stakeholder communication skills Experience in mentoring junior engineers and leading technical teams Familiarity with emergency lighting systems and smart lighting control technologies Additional Information We are committed to equal treatment of candidates and promote, as well as foster all forms of diversity within our company.
