KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • HND/HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Proficient inEPLAN– Highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in electrical design within a relevant manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in panel design/manufacturing – Highly desirable.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring junior staff.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as IEEE, IEC, and BS EN 61349, ensuring designs meet required regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with internal and external teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work within deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

Our client is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Electrical Design Engineer looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will lead and mentor Junior Engineers and Apprentices, while also being responsible for designing and developing AC electrical systems for a range of exciting projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leading and supporting a team of Junior Engineers and Apprentices, providing technical guidance and design approvals.
  • Designing and developing LV electrical systems for Electric Vehicle Charging applications and street lighting, ensuring compliance with BS EN 61439 standards.
  • Creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications using EPLAN Electric P8 and Pro Panel.
  • Selecting suitable components, equipment, and materials for AC power systems to ensure efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Collaborating with mechanical engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems.
  • Conducting feasibility studies and risk assessments to assess the viability and potential challenges of proposed designs.
  • Supporting procurement processes by reviewing vendor proposals and advising on equipment selection.
  • Providing technical support to the shop floor, troubleshooting issues to ensure designs are implemented accurately.
  • Producing comprehensive documentation for electrical designs, including technical reports, operation manuals, and maintenance procedures.
  • Keeping up to date with industry advancements, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes to enhance design practices.
