MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Six to eight years of experience in the engineering consulting industry in a building engineering group. Electrical engineering education is a great asset but not a requirement.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Familiar with building codes, electrical codes, fire alarm standards, ASHRAE and LEED requirements
  • Familiar with new development projects and tenant improvement projects
  • Familiar with electrical design requirements for different types of sectors from residential, mixed-use, healthcare, institutional to light industrial
  • Familiar Experience with short circuit and fault study software is a great asset
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to communicate, coordinate, and work well with others both internally and externally
  • Can work well as part of a big or small group

Compensation: $80,000 to $95,000 (depending on experience).

Responsibilities:

The Senior Electrical Designer will be based in our Victoria office and will lead the modelling of electrical systems using AutoCAD and Revit for a variety of commercial and institutional building projects. Working conditions are in-office from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Electrical Design: Develop electrical systems designs for both small and large commercial and institutional building projects, from concept to completion, with minimal supervision.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate electrical design work with architectural, interior design, and other engineering teams to ensure integration of systems.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate with sub-consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Compliance: Ensure all electrical designs meet applicable building codes, electrical codes, and industry standards (e.g., fire alarm, ASHRAE, LEED, etc.).
  • Design Documentation: Prepare and develop single-line diagrams, service room layouts, and electrical distribution designs while ensuring code compliance.
  • Utilities & Service Requirements: Be familiar with utilities standards, service upgrades, and new service requests.
  • Reports & Assessments: Prepare electrical assessments, schematic reports, and other documentation as required.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate designers, helping them grow technically and professionally.
  • Construction Administration: Oversee construction administration duties, including reviewing shop drawings, managing change orders, and progress claims.
  • Site Meetings: Attend site meetings, conduct reviews, and generate comprehensive reports.
  • Workload Management: Effectively manage multiple tasks, set priorities, and handle work pressure in a dynamic environment.
